    Overview About this guide This guide is designed for system administrators who use the HP ProLiant Server Management Packs for Microsoft® Systems Center Operations Manager 2007 (Operations Manager), Insight Management Agents, Insight Management WBEM Providers and other HP applications and tools to manage the operations of HP ProLiant servers within an Operations Manager 2007 environment.

    CAUTION: HP strongly discourages the use of the HP Management Packs (IMP) for MOM 2000 or MOM 2005 Management Packs in an Operations Manager 2007 environment. The new HP Server Management Packs for ProLiant servers take advantage of the redesigned architecture and new features provided with Operations Manager 2007.

If the Operations Manager console is running, close it. Install and then execute either the hpProLiantMP0n_n(x86).exe file or the hpProLiantMP0n_n(x64).exe file on a system hosting the Operations Manager 2007 Management Server or a system running remote Operations Manager console.

    After installing the HP ProLiant Server Management Packs for Operations Manager 2007 The installation updates the system with components in the table below. By default, all files are installed in the "%Program Files%\HP Server Management Packs for Operations Manager 2007" directory. If you selected a different destination folder during the installation, these files are installed in the selected folder.

    The HP ProLiant Server Management Pack kit imports four management packs into the Operations Manager 2007 server: • Hewlett-Packard Servers Core Library—This defines the basic HP Server Class structure to support ProLiant Servers Management. • Hewlett-Packard ProLiant Servers Base—This defines the HP ProLiant Server Class structure to process primary monitoring to ProLiant Servers.

    To view associated HP information, right-click the server entry, and select Open>Diagram View. This view will show the relationship between HP Server and Windows® Computer classes along with other managed classes under the Windows® Computer class instance. The state of the HP Server class instance will be propagated to the Windows® Computer class instance. Group State view The Group State view shows each Server Model Group State propagating from underlying Server Models.

    Health Explorer The Health Explorer can be launched from the State view and the Diagram view. It displays the result of state propagation in folder style. The Health Explorer automatically expands those folders in which red or yellow states are observed. Select the last node in the folder to get knowledge information, and then select the State Change Event tab to view state change history.

    • Remote Desktop and Computer Management HP Custom Data Manager The HP Custom Data Manager (CDM) maintains user-specified text information on a per server basis. It can store text information such as warranty expiration, server memo, and server location description. The text information format is open to users, and the CDM provides the means to view and input the information.
