    About This Document This document describes using the HP Integrity Essentials Foundation Pack version 5.5 to deploy Integrity Support Pack (ISP) software components from a single, easy-to-use interface. Intended Audience This document is for system administrators using the HP Integrity Essentials Foundation Pack version 5.5 to deploy Integrity Support Pack (ISP) software components.

    1 Deploying HP Integrity Support Packs in Windows Overview Beginning with HP Integrity Essentials Foundation Pack version 5.5, the HP Smart Update Manager utility enables you to deploy Integrity Support Pack (ISP) software components from a single, easy-to-use interface. This utility enables legacy support of existing software while simplifying the overall deployment process.

    2 ISPs powered by HP Smart Update Manager Deployment scenarios HP Smart Update Manager deploys software smart components on a local host or one or more remote hosts. The remote hosts must be online and running the same operating system as the system running HP Smart Update Manager.

    Deployment to multiple remote hosts The following figure illustrates the multiple-host deployment process. To deploy components to multiple remote hosts using the GUI: Ensure all minimum requirements are fulfilled as described in “Minimum requirements for Integrity servers” (page Ensure that the components to be deployed are accessible to the administrative system and are available in the same directory as the HP Smart Update Manager.

    Figure 2-2 Select Installation Host(s) Screen – Local The Select Installation Hosts screen enables you to choose a host for component installation. By default, the first time you run the HP Smart Update Manager on a particular system, the only host available is the Local Host.

    Next Proceeds to the next step in the installation process. Exits the HP Smart Update Manager. Exit To continue with the deployment process, click Next. If the system discovery finds one or more predefined bundles such as from an ISP, the Select Bundle Filter screen appears. Otherwise, the deployment process proceeds.

Using the GUI: local host installations After first time installations, the HP Smart Update Manager can deploy smart components on a local host or one or more remote hosts.

    Figure 2-6 Select Installation Host(s) Screen – Local Host The Discovery Progress screen appears while the HP Smart Update Manager checks the local system to see which items are already installed. If the system discovery finds one or more predefined bundles such as from an ISP, the Select Bundle Filter screen appears. Otherwise, the Select Items to be Installed screen appears.

    • To view all versions of the products included in the bundle, select ALLOW NON-BUNDLE VERSIONS. This option enables you to include updates that might be newer than those released in the bundle. • To view updates of products not included in the bundle, select ALLOW NON-BUNDLE PRODUCTS.

    (including errors) for each component installed. The installation log files are located in subdirectories named according to the IP address of each host in the \CPQSYSTEM\log subdirectory on the boot partition of the local host. The directory containing the local host information is stored in \CPQSYSTEM\log\localhost, instead of in the IP address.

    2. Click Next to continue. 3. Enter the credentials for the host (“Entering credentials for hosts” (page 25)). 4. Click OK to proceed, as described in “Selecting bundles to filter” (page 17). 5.     Select the method to add a host from the following: • Enter the DNS name of the host to be added. • Enter the IP address of the host to be added. • Enter the IP address range of the hosts to be added. The starting and ending IP addresses must both be on the same subnet.

Enter an optional user-defined description given to the group to be added. Select the hosts to be added to the group from the available hosts pane. You can add new hosts from this screen by clicking the New Host button.

    To delete a group, select the group on the Manage Groups screen, then click the Delete Group button. Click Yes when the confirmation screen appears. After setting the single-host selections for all hosts to be updated, click Install on the Select Items to be Installed screen to proceed with the installation.     3 Advanced installation of ISPs in Windows This section addresses advanced installation of ISPs in Windows. Component configuration Component configuration requires that Smart Components are in a write-accessible location. A CD or read-only network share is not supported. If you have obtained your support pack from the SmartSetup CD, copy the entire contents of the support pack directory to the local hard drive or a network share, and then make sure the read-only attributes are cleared from all files.
  • Page 32 Causes the server (or host server in a remote installation) /r[eboot] to reboot if the following conditions are met: • The /reboot argument has been selected or given as a command line argument. • All components selected for installation were successfully installed.

You can specify bundles with the /b argument or without it. bundlename If you specify the /b argument, you can specify only one bundle at a time. However, you can specify multiple /b arguments and bundles on the same command line.

    Return codes HP Smart Update Manager has consolidated the return codes from Windows® components into a new, enhanced return code mapping. These return codes determine the status of the component installation. You can also use return codes in a script to control the execution of the script and determine any required branching.

    4 Troubleshooting The following issues might be encountered with the Windows ISPs. The issues are in bold and their resolutions follow. • How do I set the rules for Windows Firewall and Security Policy properly? When the Windows Security Alert appears, click Unblock and set your firewall settings to the following: Click Start>Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Windows Firewall with Advanced Security>Inbound Rules>Remote Administration (NP-IN).
  • Page 38 The HP Smart Update Manager cannot be run in directories containing double-byte characters in the path name. Paths can be created with double-byte characters when using certain versions of the operating system (for example, Japanese or Chinese). • How do I use HP Smart Update Manager over a firewall? Which ports do I need to open? Are they configurable? The port that HP Smart Update Manager uses cannot be configured.
