Rotary encoder
An iPod™ or iPod™ mini can be controlled from the DVA-9860R,
when connected to an optional Alpine Interface Adapter for iPod™
(KCA-420i). While connected to the DVA-9860R through the KCA-
420i, the controls on the iPod
TM
• For details, refer to the Owner's Manual of the connected adapter
(KCA-420i).
• For each function, refer to the iPod's documentation.

Playback

Press SOURCE/POWER to switch to the iPod
mode.

Press g or f to select the desired song.
Return to the beginning of the current song:
Press g.
Fast backward:
Press and hold g.
Advance to the beginning of the next song:
Press f.
Fast forward:
Press and hold f.

To pause playback, press :/J.
Pressing :/J again will resume playback.
• If a song is playing on the iPod when it is connected to the DVA-
9860R, it will continue playing after the connection.
• If using the iPod with a changer, the Versatile Link Terminal (KCA-
410C) must be used. In this case, press BAND to select the
changer mode applicable to the iPod.

Searching for a desired Song

An iPod can contain hundreds of songs. By keeping these songs
organized in playlists, the DVA-9860R can use these to ease song
searches.

Searching by Playlist

Press SEARCH/Q.S.
search mode.
Each press changes the search mode.
The search mode is automatically changed to the
PLAYLIST search mode 4 seconds after PLAYLIST has
been selected.
PLAYLIST → ARTIST → ALBUM → PLAYLIST

Turn the Rotary encoder within 10 seconds, and
select a playlist.

Press the Rotary encoder to play back a
selected playlist.
To search for a song in the selected playlist
1 After selecting the playlist in step 2
SEARCH/Q.S.
to change to the song search mode of
the selected playlist.
2 Turn the Rotary encoder within 10 seconds to select a
song and press the Rotary encoder.
The selected song is played back.
• Press and hold SEARCH/Q.S.
search mode to cancel the search mode.
• All songs in the iPod are played back by selecting the stored "iPod
name" in step 2

Searching by artist name
