operating modes
The print server can be configured for ad hoc/computer to computer or infrastructure/
AirPort Network operating mode.
ad hoc/computer to computer mode
Allows the devices to communicate directly
without being wired to a network. This is the
default operating mode for the print server.
print server management
The print server can be accessed and
monitored using:
• the embedded Web server (Windows
only)
• the wp110 utility (Macintosh only)
• telnet
• HP Web JetAdmin, HP's premiere
printer management software. Go to
www.hp.com/go/webjetadmin for
information on HP Web JetAdmin.
infrastructure mode/AirPort network
Allows both wireless and wired computers to
send files to the printer through an access
point.
security: wired equivalent
privacy
Improve the security of your wireless
network in infrastructure mode by using
the Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP)
features of the print server. WEP
supports data encryption and access
control. For WEP to work, the encryption
key on the print server must be set to the
same value as the access point.
Note Wireless transmission speed is
reduced when WEP is enabled due to the
time required for encryption and
decryption.
