To remove all journals from a storage system, right-click the storage system in the tree or
the list.
To remove all journals in an EXCTG belonging to an LDKC, right-click the LDKC from the
tree.

Click Remove JNL from EXCTG in the menu that displays

In the Preview list, check the journal(s) to be removed. To cancel removal of a journal, right-click
and select Cancel.

When satisfied, click Apply. If an error occurs during the operation, right-click the error code
in the right-most column and select Error Detail. An error message displays.
If you cannot remove journals, follow the instructions in the next section to remove the journals
forcibly.

Forcibly remove journals

Follow the procedure below when you cannot remove the journals from an EXCTG due to a
communication failure between storage systems or other reason.

To remove journals forcibly

If the operation fails, navigate to the Journal Operations window from the Actions menu.

Locate the journal or groups that you want to forcibly remove from an EXCTG, right-click and
select Journal and Remove JNL from EXCTG (Force).

In the Preview list, check the journal(s) to be forcibly removed. To cancel removal of a journal,
right-click and select Cancel.

When satisfied, click Apply. If an error occurs during the operation, right-click the error code
in the right-most column and select Error Detail. An error message displays.

Using EXCTGs with P9500

Continuous Access Journal Z can perform remote copy operations from more than one primary
storage system to more than one secondary system using EXCTGs. Both the primary and secondary
systems can be a mix of P9500 and XP24000/XP20000 Disk Arrays.
There is no limitation on the combination of P9500 and XP24000/XP20000 Disk Array
systems for either the primary or secondary systems. Any combination of system type is allowed.
There is no limitation on the journals that can be registered in the EXCTG when the supervisor
DKC is a P9500 and the subordinate DKC is an XP24000/XP20000 Disk Array. All journals
in P9500 and XP24000/XP20000 Disk Array can be specified as EXCTGs. This is shown in
Figure 16 (page
However, when the supervisor DKC is an XP24000/XP20000 Disk Array and the subordinate
DKCs are P9500, journals of LDKCs other than LDKC00 cannot be registered in the EXCTGs.
This will be true even if the number of LDKCs is expanded in a future version. This is shown

To clarify, please observe the following:
The journal of LDKC00 of P9500 (subordinate DKC) can be registered in the EXCTG.
The journal of LDKC01 of P9500 (subordinate DKC) cannot be registered in the EXCTG.
