Changing DVD/CD settings

"SOUND" setting

Set the audio output method when related system equipment has been connected to the digital audio
output terminal of this unit.
The setting for sound output during DVD or Video CD search and for the dynamic range control function
also are made here.

*1 Set to "PCM" for connection to equipment other than a Dolby digital decoder, a DTS decoder, or an MPEG decoder.
With setting to "Bitstream", noise irritating the ears will be caused and speaker damage is to be feared.

"On":
With digital output for the 96 kHz high sampling rate, output is made with down
conversion to 48 kHz/16 bit PCM. Select this when the connected AV amplifier is not
compatible with 96 kHz digital input.
"Off":
No down conversion is done. Select this when the connected AV amplifier is
compatible with 96 kHz digital input. However, output with down conversion is done
when the disc prohibits 96 kHz digital output.
"Bitstream":
Bitstream output is made. Select this for connection to a Dolby digital
decoder.
"PCM":
Output is made with conversion to 48 kHz (2 ch.) PCM. Select this for no
connection to a Dolby digital decoder.
"Bitstream":
Bitstream output is made. Select this for connection to a DTS decoder.
"PCM":
Output is made with conversion to 48 kHz (2 ch.) PCM. Select this for no
connection to a DTS decoder.
"Bitstream":
Bitstream output is made. Select this for connection to a MPEG decoder.
"PCM":
Output is made with conversion to 48 kHz (2 ch.) PCM. Select this for no
connection to a MPEG decoder.
"On":
Sound is put out when the first stage of fast forward is used.
"Off":
Select for no sound output during fast forward.
"Wide":
Playback is made with the audio level of the disc.
"Normal":
The difference between maximum volume and minimum volume is reduced.
"Midnight":
The difference between maximum volume and minimum volume is re-
duced still further. Select this for playback at night or with low volume.
