    2455_book_1ATT 8/29/00 12:05 AM Page 3 BEFORE YOU BEGIN Using More Than One Handset This system can support up to four handsets. You must “register” additional handsets (purchased separately) with the base. The handset that came with the system (Handset 1) will automatically be registered with the base. Follow the directions that come with an additional handset to register it with the base.

After the first charge, the battery will quick charge in only eight hours. Check for dial tone.

Use the softkeys to adjust the volume down or up, or to turn the ringer off. You will hear a volume sample each time you change the setting, and the screen displays the volume level.

Even so, this handset and base can communicate over only a certain distance — which can vary with the locations of the base and handset, the weather, and the construction of your home or office.

About Mailboxes This answering system has three voice mailboxes. Callers using a touch tone phone can select the mailbox in which their messages will be recorded by pressing # 1, # 2, or # 3 after the system answers the call.

After playing a message, the system announces the day and time it was received.
