X-2 SSB
Transceiver
SwitchtransceiverOn by rotatingthe Volume controlclockwise. The Indicator will light.

Select the required Channel and Mode (USB or LSB). Follow the tuning instructions in
6 below. (No tuning required for broadband or dipole antennas).
With the Mute switch Off, set the Volume controlfor a comfortablelisteninglevel. The

Clarifier may be adjusted for natural sounding speech as required.
The Mute will remove background noise when no signals are present and should be

switched Off to prevent the occasional loss of syllables when communicating in the
presence of weak signals.
Hold the microphoneside-on,close to the mouthand speakclearly. Take care to press

the transmit button before speaking. Always listen before transmitting to ensure that the
selected
channel

When transmitting the Indicator light will flicker; Tune will cause the Indicator to light
continuously.
After changing Channel

(a)
Where a multi-frequency tapped whip is being used: select the correct tap position
for the frequency in use.
(b)
Where an automatic antenna tuner is being used: select Tune for approximately
one second and ensure that the "tune complete, double high beep" is heard
(c)
Where a manual antenna tuner is being used: set the tuner controls to the logging
scale positions. Before transmitting operate the Tune switch and adjust the Tune
control on the tuner for maximum meter reading.

Warning tones - Tones are used to warn of operator error or equipment status

Double - Tune fail (check antenna)

Warning: (a)
Do not obstruct the free flow of air through the transceiver rear fins;
