We hope it gives you many years of enjoyment A history of the Y1/Y3 Sentinel 0-4-0 The Y1/Y3 sentinel was based on the road going lorry, utilising a similar centrally mounted steam tube boiler and chain drive system to the wheels. -

(DC) and DCC layouts. DCC address is factory set to address #3. The sound decoder fitted is a Zimo or a Dapol imperium for DCC fitted versions. If operating a DCC fitted model on DC, please follow the DC operating procedure for your decoder. -

O Gauge Y1/Y3 Sentinel 0-4-0 Remove surplus spilt immediately using a lint free cloth. Regularly check your model for build-up of dust or loose scenic material around moving parts. Caution: Do not over oil! One drop is plenty. Over oiling may damage paint finishes and/or cause build-up of dust. -

No accessory bag comes with this model, all detail parts come pre-fitted. Installing a DCC decoder (DCC Ready) Dapol recommend a Dapol Imperium 21 pin decoder. The decoder chosen must offer a minimum of 2 functions in order for the firebox flicker to operate (a 4 or 6 function decoder can also be used, but with no added features). -

O Gauge Y1/Y3 Sentinel 0-4-0 Decoder programming The decoder should be configured to use the following decoder output. • AUX 1 = Firebox flicker/glow DCC Factory fitted models Factory fitted models are fitted with an imperium DCC decoder (address 3) to control the locomotive. - Page 9 O Gauge Y1/Y3 Sentinel 0-4-0 Step 3 Tilt the PCB upwards to expose the Speaker - indicated in blue in the diagram below.

O Gauge Y1/Y3 Sentinel 0-4-0 DCC sound factory fitted models 1. DCC address: The model is factory set to address 3 2. The decoder fitted is a Zimo MX644D When operating your locomotive on a DC (analogue) layout decoder will autodetect the power source and produce a synchronised exhaust sound. -

O Gauge Y1/Y3 Sentinel 0-4-0 F10 Firebox door open/close: F10 On: The sound of the firebox door being opened is heard. F10 off, the sound of the firebox closing is heard. F11 Safety valves: the sound of the safety valves operating will continue until F11 is turned off F12 Manual draincocks: Manual draincocks sound whilst F12 is turned on. -

These two features are added to the ‘light en- gine’ feature that remains active with or without the ‘RealDrive’ feature. If you are new to ‘RealDrive’ Dapol recommend testing on a clear track, preferably a loop. To activate ‘RealDrive’ set CV4 to 254, and CV309 to 7. - Page 13 O Gauge Y1/Y3 Sentinel 0-4-0 Driving technique: As the regulator is closed (speed step 0) the model will continue to coast for a considerable distance, slowing gradually. Applying the brake using F7 will bring the locomotive to a stop. The braking rate can be adjusted by changing CV 349 (High values lessen the braking effect.
