Using the CUI Installer
CD drive: From the Data Protector Express CD-ROM, be sure a CD drive is attached to your Linux
machine before using the following installation instructions. If a CD drive is not attached to the machine,
you must copy the CD to your local hard drive if this is the first time that you have installed Data
Protector Express. You can also download a CD image.
If you are installing from a CD drive:
1. Insert the Data Protector Express CD-ROM.
2. If auto-mount is not enabled on your system, you must mount the CD-ROM yourself. Refer to the

type dplincin.exe and press Enter.

NOTE: If Data Protector Express is running, you must close it before continuing.
You must have Administrator access to install Data Protector Express.
To launch the Data Protector Express Installation Manager:
1. From the Data Protector Express CD-ROM or CD-ROM image, in <version-release-service
pack>\win\x86, doubleclick dpwincin.exe.
2. To display the Installation Manager screens, options and messages in a different language, select the
appropriate language under the Languages task bar.
3. To display an online help topic, click a link in the Dynamic help task bar.
Using Data Protector Express Installer
When the installation main screen appears:
1. Select a language and press F10.
2. Review and accept the license agreement by pressing F10.
3. Select one of the following options (refer to the corresponding section below):
following example for some Linux systems:
a. Access a terminal window.
b. Type mount /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom and press Enter.
c. Wait a moment for Linux to mount the CD-ROM.
/mnt/cdrom and press Enter to access the root directory on the installation CD-ROM.
NOTE: If Data Protector Express is running, you must close it before continuing.
The installation program detects the environment that you are running. If you run ./install from
inside of an X Window System, the installation program launches the graphical-based installer. If
you run ./install from outside of an X Window System, the installation program launches
the character-based installer.
