DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
The MEW-OS175W Occupancy sensor is designed to
replace a standard light or fan switch. It is ideal for:
entrance ways, hallways, closets, storage areas, garages,
break rooms, bathrooms, kitchens, conference rooms and
any other area that requires a light or fan to be active while
occupied.
Sensor Operation
The sensor detects changes in the infrared energy given
off by occupants as they move within the coverage area.
When occupancy is detected, a self-contained relay
switches the connected load on. The sensor is line
powered and can pass-thru the line voltage (Refer to Max
Load for limitation). An internal timer automatically turn off
the load after a selectable period of inactivity

Note:
The coverage data is measured under the best
temperature condition (20°-25℃) (68°- 77°F), and a higher
temperature may not lead to an ideal coverage.
INSTALLATION & WIRING
WARNING
Disconnect power to the mounting box by turning OFF the circuit
breaker or removing the fuse for the circuit before installing the
MEW-OS175W, replacing Lamps, or doing any electrical work.
CAUTION FOR YOUR SAFETY
:
IF YOU ARE NOT SURE ABOUT ANY PART
OF THESE INSTRUCTIONS. PLEASE CONSULT A QUALIFIED ELECTRICIAN.
Avoiding HVAC Turbulence
Heating, Ventilating or Air Conditioning (HVAC) can create turbulence which
can cause the sensor to activate. It is important that the sensor and HVAC
register be separated by at least 6'.
If the sensor's location gives it a view of other rooms or hallways, the
load will turn on when movement is detected in these adjacent areas. The
sensor's detection zone may be restricted by masking a portion of the lens.
In addition, it is also NOT recommended to mount the MEW-OS175W under
or near a large light source. Large wattage bulb (greater than 100W
incandescent) create a lot of heat. Turning these bulbs on cause a rapid
temperature changes that can create a false trigger on the sensor.
Sensor Installation
1.Turn off Circuit breaker.
2.Determine the best location for the sensor. Install the sensor at least 3 ft.
away from fluorescent ballasts and HVAC ducts, and at least 4 ft. away
from incandescent fixtures and HVAC diffusers.
3.Remove screw from junction box cover. Remove cover and open wire feed
through hole. Insert wire through wire feed through hole. (See figure 2).
4.Mount junction box with supplied screws. (figure 2).
5.Connect the power and the load according to the wiring diagram as shown
in figure 3. L- Hot In, N- Neutral, A- Load (Hot Out)
6.Install junction box cover and secure with screw, restore the power.
7.Unit is now ready to be tested.

TEST:
1. Turn the SENS knob clockwise to maximum. turn the knob counter-
clockwise to minimum, turn the LUX knob clockwise to maximum (Sun).
2. When you turn on the power, the controlled load will not turn on
immediately. After a 5 seconds the load will turn on. After the load turns
off, it will turn on again when the sensor detects movement within 5~15
sec.
3. Turn LUX knob counter-clockwise to minimum. If it is adjusted to less
than 10LUX(dark), the load and sensor should not work when testing in
daylight. If you cover the detection window with an opaque object the
load should work. Under no induction signal condition, the load should
stop working within 5~15sec.

LOAD
Trouble shooting
Load does not work:
a. Verify that the wiring for power and load is correct.
b.Check if the load is good (verify at another location).
c.Check ambient light setting.
Sensitivity is poor:
a.Check if there is an obstruction in front of the detection window that
may effect the receive the signal.
b.Check if the ambient temperature is out of range.
c.Check if the activation source is in the detection fields.
d.Check if the installation height corresponds to the height showed in
the instruction.
Sensor will not shut off the load automatically:
a.Check if there is a heat source in the detection field.
b.Check if the time delay is set to max.
c.Check if the power corresponds to the instruction.
d.Check if the temperature near the sensor changes, such as air
condition or central heating etc.
