    Hybrid Printer HSP7000 SoftwareManual for PrinterDriver Introduction The HSP7000 provides an OPOS driver and printer drivers to support various types of usage. This document explains how to install and use the printer drivers. For information about using the OPOS driver, refer to the OPOS-driver soft- ware manual. 1. Installing/Uninstalling Before using the HSP7000 with Windows 2000, XP, or Vista, you must first install the printer drivers. If you have already installed an HSP7000 printer using CD1.0, you must first uninstall it before proceeding with installation of the driver software described here. Refer to the software manual in HSP7000 CD1.0 for information about how to uninstall. Important: Administrator privilege is required to run the installation. The installation procedure depends on the system that you are using. If installing on Windows 2000, XP, or 32-bit Vista: Go to Section 1.1. If installing on 64-bit Vista: Go to Section 1.2. 1.1 Installing (Windows 2000/XP Vista 32-Bit Edition) To install the driver, proceed as follows. Important: If you are connecting to the printer by USB, please do not turn the printer power on until instructed to do so in Section 1.1.2, “Adding Printer Drivers.” 1.1.1 Installing from CD Insert the included CD-ROM into your PC’s CD-ROM drive. If an Autorun confirmation dialog appears, click Run 1� Autorun.exe. When the following window appears, click Installation—Printer Driver. At the Windows Start menu, select Programs — StarMicronics — HSP7000 — Utility — HSP7000 Printer 1� Driver Installer. If you are using 32-bit Vista, the User Account Control dialog appears. Click Continue. 2� When the following dialog appears, select the interface you are going to use. If you select Parallel or Serial, pro- ceed to click Next. If you select a USB interface or the Ethernet interface, carry out the instructions shown on the screen. When you have finished, click Next. —  —...

For details about the DIP switches, refer to the hardware manual. If installing the USB (Vendor class) driver, leave DIP switch 1-5 set to ON (its factory default). If it is necessary to change the setting, refer to the hardware manual for information about the DIP switches. 2) C onnect the printer to the computer with a USB cable, and turn the printer’s power ON. The computer’s Plug and Play feature will automatically detect the new hardware and install the receipt printer driver. When installation is completed successfully, the following indication will appear in the task bar (at the bottom right of the screen). ■ Ethernet Interface 1) I f you have not yet set an IP address for the printer you are connecting, please do so now as explained in Section 4.1.4, “Ethernet I/F Setup.” When you click Set IP Address, the Star Configuration Utility’s Ethernet I/F Setup dialog will appear. 2) I f you have not yet created a TCP/IP port for the printer you are connecting, please add the standard Windows TCP/IP port. If connecting the printer by a interface other than USB, please jump ahead to Section 1.2.1, “Adding Printer Drivers.” ■ If Connecting By USB Interface If you are installing a USB interface, you must first allow the computer’s Plug and Play feature to make appropriate set- tings. If you are installing the USB (Printer Class) driver, Plug and Play will automatically install the receipt driver. If you are using the USB (Vendor Class) driver, Plug and Play will set the USB port. If installing the USB (Printer Class) driver, please set DIP switch 1-5 on the printer to OFF. For details about the DIP switches, refer to the hardware manual. If installing the USB (Vendor Class) driver, leave DIP switch 1-5 set to ON (its factory default). Note that the procedure must be repeated for each driver you wish to install (Receipt, Slip, and Validation). When using a TCP/IP interface, the port must be configured beforehand. From the Windows Start menu, select Settings – Printers. 1� Right-click over an empty area of the Printers folder to open the drop-down menu. The procedure varies according to the OS you are using. Please refer to the subsection that corresponds to your environment. 1.3.1 Windows 2000/XP To uninstall the driver, proceed as follows. When using a USB vendor class driver, read the “Readme_En.txt” file located in the CD-ROM. Turn off the power switch of the HSP7000. 1� From the Windows Start menu, select Programs – StarMicronics – HSP7000 – Uninstall. 2� When the following confirmation dialog box appears, click the Yes button to continue. 3� The uninstaller launches to remove all of the HSP7000 software from your computer. 4� —  —...

    Hybrid Printer HSP7000 SoftwareManual for PrinterDriver 2. Features HSP7000 Windows Drivers The HSP7000 comes with separate drivers for receipt printing, slip printing, and validation printing. These drivers en- able the printer to operate on Windows 2000, XP, and Vista systems. Each driver is set up separately. On each driver, you can set basic print settings such as print mode and paper size, together with advanced settings such as graphic logos and the operation of peripheral buzzers or cash drawers. The following example shows settings for an optional buzzer. Windows 2000/XP/Vista Printer Driver Settings The HSP7000 comes with separate printer drivers for receipt printing, slip printing, and validation printing. These drivers enable the printer to operate on Windows 2000, XP, and Vista systems. Make settings at each of these drivers as necessary to set up receipt, slip, and validation printing. Note that the Receipt driver supports two print modes: Raster mode (the default) and Line mode. If you are using a USB connection, it is recommended that you leave the mode set to Raster. If using a serial interface, it is recommended that you set the mode to Line. Notable differences between these two modes are as follows. ■ Raster mode: • Prints graphics at high speed. • Suitable for reverse printing (wall-mount mode). ■ Line mode: • Supports device fonts. • Suitable for printing barcode device fonts. To open the setting tool’s dialog, proceed as follows. Begin by opening the Properties dialog box, as follows. On Windows 2000 and XP, go to the Start menu and open Printers and Faxes. On Windows Vista, go to the Start 1� menu and select Settings – Printers. In the folder that opens, right-click the Star HSP7000 printer icon. From the drop-down menu, select Properties (if 2� Windows 2000 or XP) or select Run as administrator – Properties (if Windows Vista). Notes for Printing via a Serial Interface When using HSP7000 Windows drivers to print through a serial interface, the printer and printer-port settings must be correctly matched.
