ongratulations on your purchase of the
Lionel 0-4-0 steam switching locomotive
with tender.
Your switcher will run on Lionel or Lionel-
Coupling your locomotive and tender
C
ouple the locomotive to the tender by con-
necting the four-pin tender plug with the
one-pin plug on the locomotive. Note: The locomo-
tive will not run and the tender's rear directional lamp
Coupling and uncoupling additional cars

he front of your locomotive and rear of
your tender are equipped with a mag-
netic die-cast knuckle coupler, a revolution-
ary design first introduced by
Lionel in 1945.
You can couple additional
cars to the front of the locomo-
tive and rear of the tender
along any straight section of
track, provided that at least one
of the mating couplers is open.
Lionel magnetic couplers react to the mag-
netic field generated by a Lionel remote-con-
trol track section (available separately). Place
the coupler's "trigger disc" over the remote-
compatible O or O-27 gauge track and will
operate using either an alternating current
(AC) or direct current (DC) transformer that
supplies 7 to 14 volts.
