    Volume When you receive a claim number from one of the Instructional Product Dealers or TI, you need to visit the Texas Instruments Software Service Center (SSC) website. The SSC is where you will redeem purchased software, generate license numbers, and manage software activations.

    Acquiring Other Files You will want to acquire other files if you are installing the volume or concurrent license types. Single There are no other files needed. Volume It is recommended that you review and edit the setup.ini. If performing a basic install, you do not need the setup.ini.

    Basic Installation Volume licenses. - If you are planning a basic install, it is recommended you first review the setup.ini as covered in the “Advanced Installation - Volume” section to see if an advanced install would work better for you. It’s not necessary, but it may save you time.
  • Page 16 3. Once you’ve selected the program to install, the Welcome screen opens. Click Next to continue. 4. When the Location screen opens, select your location. The screen will show its progress. First the Installing bar will cycle several times then the Overall bar will complete and Cancel moves to the left of the screen and the Next button appears.

    Activation After you install the software, double-click the TI-Nspire™ software you want to run. You will be prompted to start the Activation wizard. 1. When you first start the TI-Nspire™ software a screen somewhat like the following example appears. Select "Activate your License" and click Next.
  • Page 20 3. Type your license number. Click Next. Once you enter the license number the Next button is activated. If the machine you are activating does not have Internet access, you can use the Web Portal option. For more information, see Web Portal Activation.

    Advanced Installation - Volume This section covers the advanced installation procedure for the volume license. Setup.ini - Volume The setup.ini file provides a method for entering all the values you would be prompted to enter during a client install so that you only have to type these values once for multiple client installs.
  • Page 24 Important information about the setup.ini 6. If you are using the same setup.ini for multiple products be sure to clear values that do not correspond to the new product. For example, if you first install the student version and set the TINSPIRE_SS value to CAS and then later are editing the setup.ini to install the teacher software, remember to clear the TINSPIRE_SS value you previously entered.

    Deployment There are many deployment packages you can use to distribute the software. Texas Instruments does not make any recommendations or endorse any particular brand or describe steps for using these tools. Please see your deployment tool’s instructions for more information.

    • The TI-Admin must be run on the license management server machine. The Texas Instruments Activation Wizard Installer starts as soon as you open the TI-Admin application file (.exe). 1. The Welcome is the first screen to appear. Click Next.
  • Page 34 2. Accept the default location or click to open a file manager Browse and navigate to your location. 3. Select the check box to ’Add a shortcut to desktop’ if desired. 4. Click Next. 5. A success message appears. This indicates the administration tools have been installed.

    Setup.ini - Concurrent Important information about the setup.ini 1. Be sure to acquire the correct setup.ini for your operating system. The content is the same for both Mac® and PC but the file structure (end of line characters) are not compatible and will not work correctly with the wrong operating system.

Note: These examples where taken from Windows® XP and Apple® 10.6. The basic concept is the same in other versions as well, but there may be slight variations.

    Web Portal Activation If you have a machine that cannot connect to the Internet, you can manually use the Web Portal activation method. Essentially, you take a file from the non-connected machine and put it on a machine that is connected to the Internet.

    Additional Information - Concurrent Only: Setting the Percentage Amount for Borrowed Licenses The default value for the percentage of licenses that can be borrowed (assuming you allow borrowing in the setup.ini) is 100%. Complete the following steps to change the value. 1.
