    Analyzer/Generator) for updates to this User Guide. 1.1 About the Envision X14 The Envision X14 is a compact feature-rich test instrument for testing D-PHY, C-Phy, CSI-2, DSI-2 application processors, cameras for analysis and D-Phy and C-Phy SOCs and display devices with video generation.

    2.1 Analysis – Emulation for either CSI or DSI In the emulation analysis mode for either CSI or DSI (and either C-Phy or D-Phy, the Envision X14 is emulating either a CSI Application Processor or a DSI Display Peripheral. Note that in these applications the solder-down probes are not used. These applications are depicted in the diagrams below for CSI and DSI respectively.

    2.3 Generation – Transmitting CSI or DSI Image or Video/Pixel Data In the generator mode, the Envision X14 is transmitting CSI image sensor data or DSI video pixel data. Note that in these generator applications the solder-down probes are not used. These applications are depicted in the diagrams below.

    3 About the VPS GUI Application The Envision X14 can be operated either through the embedded GUI running on the Envision X14 or through an external GUI hosted on a PC. The GUI is the Video Protocol Suite (VPS). When using the embedded VPS GUI you will need an external display connected to an HDMI port on the rear of the unit.

    Envision X14 CSI/DSI Analyzer/Generator - User Guide Rev. 1 4.3 Front Panel LCD The Teledyne LeCroy Envision X14 front panel has a 4 line by 16 character LCD display. Currently the LCD displays the following information: Network Information: IP address, gateware and netmask.

Follow these steps: Minimize the VPS GUI using the minimize button at the top right of the window.

    The Envision X14 can be operated from the VPS GUI application installed on a host Windows PC. The VPS GUI application will have to be downloaded and installed on your Windows PC and you will need to connect your PC to the Envision X14 over an Ethernet IP connection.
  • Page 12 VPS GUI Running on PC Host Connected thru Corporate LAN Set the IP address of the Envision X14 Instrument Network Settings of the embedded VPS GUI from the Tester screen by clicking the three horizontal bar menu icon at the top right corner of the Dashboard.

  • Page 14 Note: If using DHCP for IP address assignment, check for the resulting IP address at the bottom left of the embedded GUI after rebooting, as shown below. To add your Envision X14 to the VPS Application, begin by clicking Device Selection on the system menu as shown below.

    6 Running a D-Phy Self-Test This chapter describes how to run a self-test on the D-Phy connectors. A self-test is useful to verify that the Envision X14 is operating properly and the cables and connectors have not been damaged. When you receive the Envision X14 you might want to run a self-test to verify that the ports and cables are functioning properly.

    RealVNC is one suitable virtual terminal application that you can use. Download the application and install it on your host PC. Provide a name for the Envision X14 and enter the IP address to connect. You will connect to the Envision X14 embedded VPS GUI and see the home screen.

    13.3 About the Envision X14 C-Phy CSI-2/DSI-2 Video Generator The Envision X14 supports both a video generator and video analyzer function. However, only one or the other can be active at any one time. Therefore, you have to select whether you want to activate the video analyzer or generator.
