Manual 45012 TM-1000LP Actuator and Attached Steam Valve Chapter 4. Principles of Operation Steam Valve Assembly The actuator output shaft is connected to the steam-valve stem through a slip joint, which allows limited relative motion between the two. If input current to the actuator is increased, the output shaft will retract into the actuator and pull the steam valve open.

TM-1000LP Actuator and Attached Steam Valve Manual 45012 Operation of the actuator is similar in the decrease direction. Movement of the flapper restricts flow from the upper nozzle, while increasing flow from the lower nozzle. The pressure differential this time lowers the spool valve and uncovers ports to direct supply pressure to decrease actuator output position.
