    The term tablet/phone is used to refer to a tablet or mobile phone running an Android or iOS operating system. The term app is used to refer to SMARTSTEP, the Blatchford programming application which can be installed on a tablet/phone.

    1 Description and Intended Purpose These instructions for use are intended for the user. Please keep these instructions. Please read and ensure that you understand these instructions, in particular all safety and maintenance information. Application The device is a Class 1 medical device according to the EU Medical Device Regulation 2017/745 to be used exclusively as part of a lower limb prosthesis.
  • Page 5 To see live data from your device you will need to connect the app to your Avior via Bluetooth®. To do this, switch on Bluetooth® on both your tablet/phone and on your Avior, then your app will connect your tablet/phone to your Avior automatically.

    4 Key Points This device is a water resistant (IP65) microprocessor-controlled multiaxial knee with a hydraulic control cylinder that automatically controls knee flexion and extension resistances to aid walking standing and sitting. The device is configured by your practitioner for your individual gait needs and adapts in real time to your current motion situation.

    If you are granted permission to use the wearer app (wearer’s interface to SMARTSTEP) with your device, you can keep track of your activity and usage. If you are subscribed to the app, your practitioner may also ask you complete on-line tasks, questionnaires, etc., via the app if this functionality is made available to you.

    Limitations on Use Environment The device is dustproof and water resistant to IP65 and can withstand temporary exposure to a low-pressure jet of fresh water with no harmful effects. The device can be worn while showering in fresh water (avoid soaping the device while showering), and it must be rinsed and dried immediately after showering.

    9 Program Operation The device’s program automatically adapts the device operation to suit different activities (walking, sitting, standing, walk down stairs, etc.). The program follows operating mode and function settings configured by your practitioner and also any user modes enabled for you, or by you.
