Use the unit only when baby is in a motionless bed
Only use Oma Sense when baby is in a motionless bed/cot. Do not use in a car seat, stroller, swing or other mobile carrier as motion negates the functionality of the monitor. Oma Sense is not suitable for co-sleeping, tummy or side sleeping.

Secure your Unit and Start Monitoring

Using the Device - Securing your Unit
Clip Oma Sense on your baby's button up sleeper or pajama waistband on the tummy area (see proper placement in section above and on the Proper Placement insert). Oma Sense is now monitoring your little one's movements.
If using blankets on baby, ensure the alarm can still be heard. If attaching Oma Sense to a diaper, make sure that the waistband is snug on baby's tummy and high enough to detect proper movement. If the device is not placed in the optimal position, false alerts could occur.

The Reassurance Indicator flashes blue every 30 seconds to let you know baby's movements are being detected. In the event that no movement is detected for 15 seconds, Oma Sense will initiate randomized vibrations and audible alerts to stimulate baby and encourage the return of regular movement. If regular movement has not been re-established 5 seconds after the first alert has completed, an emergency alarm with LED lights and audible alerts will notify parents that attention is required.
The device will check the battery status when being powered off. A GREEN flash indicates the battery is good. A RED flash indicates the battery needs to be changed before the next use. When Oma Sense turns off, it will no longer monitor movement.

TIP: To extend the distance the alarm can be heard, Levana recommends using Oma Sense together with an Audio or Video Baby Monitor. Visit www.mylevana.com to view our complete line of Levana Baby Monitors.

Alerts

Oma Sense was designed with WakeUp Technology which features fluctuating vibrations, LED and audible alerts to increase baby's response to stimuli.

Stimulation Alert

  • If no movement is detected for 15 seconds, Oma Sense uses a patented anti-sensory adaptation algorithm to sound an audible alarm with flashing LEDs and gentle vibration to stimulate your baby and encourage the return of regular movement.
  • If movement returns the Reassurance Indicator will return to flashing BLUE every 30 seconds and will continue to monitor baby's movement.
NOTE: Each time an alert occurs the BLUE LED will flash every 3 seconds for the first 30 seconds and then will return to every 30 seconds.

Emergency Alarm

  • If movement does not return 5 seconds after the Stimulation Alert, Oma Sense sounds an emergency alarm with flashing LED lights and audible alarm to alert parents attention is needed. Oma Sense will encourage movement with a short period of vibrations, while you get to your baby. The alerts and lights will continue until the device is powered off.

Frequently Asked Questions

QUESTION ANSWER
Can I use the Movement Monitor with reusable cloth diapers? Yes. If the cloth diapers are too thick for attachment the movement monitor should be securely attached to the diaper cover or waterproof pants – ensure a snug fit so that the movement monitor maintains body contact. You may need to position the movement monitor slightly to the side to ensure maximum contact.
Can the movement monitor be used with a baby that sleeps on his tummy? The movement monitor relies on movement in the area where the sensor is located. Usually, when sleeping on its back (as recommended by the World Health Organization). Because of the restriction of the mattress, when baby sleeps on its tummy, tummy movements are reduced. When sleeping on the tummy, more breathing movements occur at the baby's sides than when sleeping on the back. You will need try and position the movement monitor away from the tummy (to avoid discomfort to baby), and place towards the sides where you can visibly see movement. There is a greater possibility of false alarms occurring in this position, however after a few trials you will find a position to attach the movement monitor that will provide successful monitoring of breathing movement. Please also be aware that if your baby sleeps on its tummy, alarm sounds may be muffled, therefore the use of an audio/video monitor may be required.

Is the unit safe

Absolutely! Baby's safety is paramount. Our movement monitors utilize an ultra-low voltage (3.0V) battery, emits no radiation and has no side effects.

Is the unit rechargeable

No, the battery is non-rechargeable however it can be replaced. Use only a 3V CR2450 battery, which is available to purchase at www.mylevana.com. We recommend using only the Panasonic 3V CR2450 battery.
Levana recommends that Oma Sense be used between 0 to 6 months.
Does an alarm go off with my unit or the baby's unit? Oma Sense is a standalone wearable baby movement monitor designed to stimulate baby when no movement is detected. If movement has not been re-established 5 seconds after the first alert, Oma Sense sounds an alarm which is designed to alert parents that attention is needed.
How does this differ from similar products on the market? Like similar products, this product is a wearable baby movement monitor. However, Oma Sense features our patented WakeUp Technology which initiates randomized vibrations, LED lights and audible alerts when no movement is detected. This product also features our patented one-handed clip to offer an enhanced ease of use for parents. Oma Sense does not require any skin contact, allowing for placement on pants and onesies, and is made with medical grade materials for further comfort if you do choose to use on the diaper.

How does this product differ from previous version

Oma Sense is our newest movement monitor featuring our patented WakeUp Technology which initiates randomized vibrations, LED lights and audible alerts to simulate baby. Oma Sense also features a patented one handed clip improving the ease of use of the product. It is made with medical grade materials and skin contact is not required, unlike our previous, and many movement monitors in the market.
If baby is sleeping in a vibrating or rocking bassinet, would those movements give a false sense of security is the baby stopped moving? It is important that Oma Sense is only used on your little one while in a motionless crib, bassinet or playpen. Swings and other mobile carriers will negate the functionality of the monitor.
Can I use this monitor if I swaddle my baby? Using a swaddle reduces abdominal movement, making it difficult for Oma Sense to properly monitor your little one. We do however recommend using it on button-up onesies or pants, so baby can stay cozy through naps and bedtime.
