    • Servicing shall be performed only as recommended by Seeley International • For ducted systems, the supply and return air shall be directly ducted to the conditioned space. Open areas such as false ceilings shall not be used as a return air duct.
  • Page 7 Auxiliary devices which may be a potential ignition source shall not be installed in the duct work. Examples of such potential ignition sources are hot surfaces with a temperature exceeding 700°C and electric switching devices. Only auxiliary devices approved by Seeley International or declared suitable with the refrigerant shall be installed in connecting ductwork. Cabling Check that the cabling will not be subject to wear, corrosion, excessive pressure, vibration, sharp edges or any other adverse environmental effects.

    Before using the recovery machine, check that it is in satisfactory working order, has been properly maintained and that any associated electrical components are sealed to prevent ignition in the event of a refrigerant release. Consult Seeley International if in doubt.

CONDENSATE DRAINAGE A condensate drain pipe is required to be installed for the outdoor unit to drain out the condensate water during heating operation.

    REFRIGERANT PIPE WORK - cont. CONNECTION BETWEEN INDOOR UNIT AND OUTDOOR UNIT Remove Schrader valve cap on indoor unit and release dry nitrogen prior to removing flare nuts from pipe ends. If there is no high pressure gas blowing out, it is the signal of a leaking Indoor unit, check and test for leaks, repair and/or replace as required. Flare the pipe’s end with flare tool, ensuring a good quality flare is achieved.

    REFRIGERANT PIPE WORK - cont. LEAK DETECTION METHODS • Electronic leak detectors shall be used to detect flammable refrigerants, but the sensitivity may not be accurate, or may need re-calibration (Detection equipment shall be calibrated in a refrigerant-free area). • Ensure that the detector is not a potential source of ignition and is suitable for the refrigerant used.

    DETERMINATION OF CORRECT REFRIGERANT CHARGE The Outdoor unit comes pre-charged with Refrigerant R32, refer to Table 10 to determine if added refrigerant is required. Extra refrigerant, (g/m), determined from Table 10, MUST be added for each metre that the field installed pipe extends beyond the maximum pre-charge length.

    SERVICING REQUIREMENTS WITH FLAMMABLE REFRIGERANTS CHECKS TO THE AREA Prior to beginning work on systems containing flammable refrigerants, safety checks are necessary to ensure that the risk of ignition is minimised. Work shall be undertaken under a controlled procedure so as to minimise the risk of a flammable gas or vapour being present while the work is being performed.
