Instruction book Main parts General description The PAC F44-88 E, PAC H64-108 E and PAC F1212 E dry-prime centrifugal pumps, is suitable for handling clean water, dirty water or liquids containing solids in suspension. The PAC F44-88 E, PAC H64-108 E and PAC F1212 E pump is driven by s an electric motor. An overview of the main parts is given in the diagram below.
  • Page 14: Operation

Instruction book Figure 1: Flow Diagram 2.1.1 Operation A centrifugal pump and a membrane type vacuum pump form the pump with automatic vacuum priming. If there is no water in the pump when assembly starts running, the float of the air/water separation chamber lowers, thereby allowing the intake of the vacuum pump.

Despite the pump is able to deal with air in the suction line, Atlas Copco recommends to avoid this situation as far as possible in order to guarantee a better performance and lifetime of the pump.
  • Page 16: Mechanical Features

Instruction book Mechanical features The mechanical features described in this chapter are standard features of this pump. For all other mechanical features, see section General description. 2.4.1 Pump The pump is fitted with an impeller which is able to manage solids in suspension. The machine can only operate if it is primed.

Instruction book Installation and connection Lifting To lift the unit by means of a hoist with lifting strap, a lifting eye has been integrated in the structure and is easily accessible from the top of the unit. NOTE With an appropriate hoist equipped with a scale of adequate capacity, do not hook the ropes to parts of the motor or pump.
  • Page 21: Installation

Place the pump on a horizontal, even and a solid floor. The pump can operate in a slant position not exceeding 3% (in both senses: front/rear and left right). Contact the Atlas Copco technical office for installations at the limit of the prescribed inclination.
  • Page 22: Outdoor Installation

Instruction book Put the motor in a well cooled position. Ensure that cooling is not obstructed by any machines or walls. The minimum distance to the nearest wall should be at least a quarter length of the fan cover. The inlet air temperature must be at ambient temperature. NOTE For more information about indoor installation, consult your local Atlas Copco dealer.
  • Page 23 In the same way, bends in the suction should be avoided as much as possible. Atlas Copco recommends fluid velocities up to 2 m/s (6 ft/sec) on the suction and 3 m/s (9 ft/sec) on the discharge.
