The following functions have been added as of TD-50X version 1.20.
Make sure that the system program version of the TD-50X is Ver. 1.20 or later.
If the current version is earlier than Ver. 1.20, update the system.
MEMO
If you are using the TD-50, you can use the system program update once you upgrade to the TD-50X.
Refer to the following for details.

See the Owner's Manual that's included with the PD-14DSX for how to set up and play the PD-14DSX.
Here's how to specify the trigger input to which a connected PD-14DSX should be assigned.
The optimal pad assignments are already made when you first connect the PD-14DSX.
The following explains how to change the assigned destinations (assignments).
* If you assign the same trigger input used by a pad connected to a TRIGGER IN jack, the pad that's connected to that TRIGGER IN jack does not output sound.
* When you execute a factory reset for the TD-50X, the connection history and settings of digitally-connected pads are initialized.
* You can't specify multiple instances of the same assignment.
The PD-14DSX is already set up with the optimal sensitivity when shipped from the factory. You can adjust the sensitivity to set this in greater detail.
For details on the parameters that can be edited, refer to "TD-50X Data List" (Roland website).
Making more detailed adjustments
Follow the steps below only when you need finer control over the settings, such as the detailed pad sensitivity, signal detection, strike point detection and so on.
For details on the parameters that can be edited, refer to "TD-50X Data List" (Roland website).
Button | Explanation |
[F1] (THRESHOLD) button | Configures the detailed settings for the pad sensitivity. |
[F2] (RIM) button | Configures the detailed rim shot settings. |
[F3] (SCAN) button | Configures the detailed trigger signal detection settings. |
[F4] (POSITION) button | Configures the detailed strike point detection settings. |
MEMO
To return to the default values, press the [F5] (DEFAULT) button.
Trigger parameters (with the exception of certain parameters such as crosstalk cancellation) are set to the default value.
For details, refer to "TD-50X Data List" (Roland website).
With the PD-14DSX, you can have finer control over the parameters by following the steps below.
Parameter | Value | Explanation |
Position Adjust | 1–10 | Adjusts how the tonal character is affected by strike position. Lower values adjust toward the center, and higher values adjust toward the circumference. |
XStick Detect Sens | OFF, 1–5 | Adjusts how easy it is to use crossstick playing technique. If this is "OFF", cross-stick technique is unavailable. |
Strainer Lever Sens | – | This can't be adjusted on the TD-50X. |
LED Brightness | OFF, 1–5 | Adjusts the brightness of the strainer indicator. When this set to "OFF", the LED goes dark. |
Operate the strainer lever to "attach" the drum sound module's snare wires to the snare (bottom side; ON) or to "detach" them (OFF).
Aside from the snare wire operation, you can assign other functions as well.
You can assign a variety of functions to the strainer, such as turning the strainer knob to adjust the tension of the snare wires, or pressing the knob to play or stop a song.
MEMO
The color of the drum sound module kit is used for the strainer indicator color.
You can configure the strainer settings by following the steps below.

Lever Func | This sets the function that's used when you operate the strainer lever.
OFF | No function is assigned.
STRAINER ON/ OFF | Sets whether the Strainer Adj. parameter for the snare is "OFF" or not. * This is only enabled when the instrument category is SNARE. * The STRAINER ON/OFF that's assigned to the Foot Switch Control is disabled.
Knob Func | This sets the function that's used when you turn the strainer knob.
OFF | No function is assigned.
SONG# | Switches between songs.

Trigger types have been added for the following pads.
*See the Owner's Manual included with the pad in question for how to set up and play each pad.
MEMO
Trigger type
The trigger type is a collection of various trigger parameters, adjusted to values that are appropriate for each pad. To make the optimal settings for a connected pad, specify the model (trigger type) of that pad.
Setting the trigger type
Pad | Explanation |
K | KICK |
S | SNARE |
T1–T4 | TOM1–4 |
HH | HI-HAT |
C1, C2 | CRASH 1, 2 |
R | RIDE |
A1–A4 | AUX1–4 |
* You can't change the trigger type of a trigger input that's assigned to a pad that supports a digital connection.
MEMO
When you specify the trigger type, the trigger parameters (with the exception of certain parameters such as crosstalk cancellation) are set to optimal values. These values are only general guidelines; you can make fine adjustments as appropriate according to how you attach the pad and how you use it.
For details, refer to "TD-50X Data List" (Roland website).
