aligned on the dowel pins. Using a track of pins has the disadvantage
that rotational mounting is difficult and that mounting can become
impossible because of the tolerances. The yokes are designed for a
contact mounting without guaranteed gap between them. There is
no danger of mounting the magnet yokes with an incorrect orienta-
tion, the magnet yokes are "Murphy-safe". A 180° rotated magnet yoke
does not have any effect on the motor function.

Apply the principle of controlled rotational mounting, see figure 4.3.
A straight directing and placing of the magnet yokes implies the risk
of striking due to magnetic forces. Uncontrolled approach may cause
damage to the magnets.

4.2.3 Coil unit mounting
The mounting of the coil unit on appropriate and clean mounting
surfaces is straightforward because no attraction forces are pres-
ent between the coil unit and the magnet yokes. The coil unit can
be placed into the machine by hand carefully, pushed to the axial

For applications which are susceptible to vibrations, the bolts have to
be secured against loosening by means of rings or (Loctite) thread-
locker.

Electrical connections
Before starting any activity on the wiring, make sure that the mains are
disconnected. Work carefully according the instructions belonging to
the applied servo controller. Be sure your machine as a whole meets
the requirements of all applicable electrical standards, such as the EN
60204 standard.
With the mechanical installation performed, now the electrical con-
nections can be installed. This is shown in the following paragraphs.
4.3.1 General remarks
The electrical wiring of the UM, UL and UX linear motors is externally
configured with a power cable and a temperature sensor cable. The
cable with the largest diameter is the power cable. Both cables are
shielded with a braided metal cable shield. The UX3S has a 3 meter
long flex power cable, which is suitable for a cable chain, and a 1
