(for example, when you need to replace a lost device with a new one). If your device is lost, you can use the BlackBerry Protect web site to help you find your device by viewing its current location, making it ring, or displaying a custom message on the device Home screen.
App World. You can use any email address for your BlackBerry ID; you do not have to use an email address that you have added to your device. If you have a user name and password that you use to manage email addresses on your device, that user name is separate from your BlackBerry ID.
2. On the left side of the web page, click Your Devices. 3. If you want to delete all of yourBlackBerry device's backup data from BlackBerry Protect, clear the Keep Backups check box beside the device that you want to delete.
Protect backs up your data at the specified frequency when your BlackBerry device is connected to the wireless network and not in use. If your device is turned off or not connected to the wireless network when a backup is due, BlackBerry Protect backs up your data the next time that your device is turned on and connected.
Wi-Fi network is not available when a scheduled backup time arrives, BlackBerry Protect backs up your data the next time that your device connects to a Wi-Fi network. If you do not select this option, BlackBerry Protect still backs up your data over a Wi-Fi network when one is available, but if a Wi-Fi network is not available, BlackBerry Protect backs up your data over the wireless network.

Troubleshooting My data was not backed up Try performing the following actions: • Verify that your BlackBerry®device is connected to the wireless network. • On the Options screen, verify that the Automatically Back Up check box is selected. • On the Options screen, verify that the Only Back Up over Wi-Fi check box is not selected.
Your device sends its location only when you request it through the BlackBerry Protect web site or when the battery power level is low; your device does not report its location on a regular basis. However, if you do not want your device to be able to send its location to the BlackBerry Protect web site, you can turn off location tracking in the BlackBerry Protect application on your device, but then you will not be able to view your device's location if it is lost.
2. If necessary, click the arrow icon beside the device picture to select the lost device. 3. Click Loud Ring > Loud Ring. If your device is turned off or not connected to the wireless network, BlackBerry Protect makes your device ring the next time it is turned on or connected to the wireless network.
Display a message on your lost device You can display a custom message on your BlackBerry® device for anyone who finds your device to see, even if your device is locked. On a locked device, the custom message replaces your wallpaper and any existing owner information that appears on your device screen. On an unlocked device, the custom message displays in a dialog box.
My device does not appear in my BlackBerry Protect account Your BlackBerry® device might be set up to work with a BlackBerry® Enterprise Server. To learn about how your device can be protected against loss or theft, contact your administrator.
Restore data When you restore data, data from the backup is added to any existing data on your BlackBerry®device. For example, if you choose to restore contacts and you already have several contacts on your device, contacts from the backup are added to your existing contacts. If the same contact appears on your device and in the backup, the contact in the backup replaces the one on your device.
