IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
When using electrical appliances, always follow basic precautions, including the
following:
READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS, PRODUCT LABELS AND WARNINGS BEFORE USING
THE FOOD DEHYDRATOR.
● Do not touch hot surfaces or allow them to come into contact with flammable
materials. Use handles or knobs.
● To protect against electrical hazards, do not immerse the cord, the plug or the base of
the dehydrator in water or other liquid. Do not wash in the sink or dishwasher.
● This appliance should not be used by or near children. Keep out of reach of children.
● Unplug from the outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow the appliance to
cool down before putting on or removing parts.
● Do not operate appliances that have malfunctioned or have been damaged in any
way. Return the appliance to an authorised facility for repair or replacement.
● Using accessory attachments, which are not recommended by the manufacturer, can
cause hazards and void your warranty.
● Arrange the cord so it cannot be caught or tripped over. Ensure the cord does not
hang over the edge of the table or counter.
● This appliance is for indoor, household use only. Do not use the appliance outdoors.
● This appliance is not to be used for commercial purposes.
● Keep the dehydrator, cord, trays and other parts away from hot gas and electric
burners. Never place the appliance or its parts into a heated oven.
● Before unplugging the appliance, turn the control to the 'OFF' position.
● Only use this appliance as described in the manual.
● Operate the appliance in a clean, dust-free area. Dust and dirt can be sucked into the
dehydrator, which could contaminate the food being dried.
● Do not place the dehydrator on towels or carpets. This will affect the dehydrator's
airflow, which would damage the appliance.
● Ensure at least one inch of space on all sides of the dehydrator so air can circulate
properly.
● Do not use more than 20 drying trays at once.
● Keep all parts of the dehydrator in temperatures below 75°C.
● Do not operate near combustible or pressurised spray cans.
● To clean the heating base, unplug the appliance from the wall outlet, ensuring it is
completely cool. Then, wipe the heating base with a damp cloth or sponge and mild
soap. Do not immerse the base or cord in water. You can submerge the top lid and
trays in warm water and mild soap; do not place them into a dishwasher. Heat from a
drying cycle can warp trays – this is not covered by the warranty.
● Before every use, wash and dry the trays and other parts that will come into contact
with food.
● Never use this appliance on non-heat-resistant glass, wooden cooking surfaces or
tablecloths. IMPORTANT: Place this appliance on tile or any surface that is protected
with a heat-resistant finish.
● During first-time use, you may notice an odour – this is normal. To avoid the odour
affecting the food, place a tray covered with a lid on the base of the unit. Then,
following instructions, allow the appliance to run without food in place until the odour
is gone. This is only necessary during its first use – it takes less than one hour.
