We're glad you purchased a BISSELL deep cleaner. Everything we know about floor care went into the design and construction of this complete, high-tech home cleaning system. Your BISSELL deep cleaner is well made, and we back it with a limited one-year warranty. We also stand behind it with a knowledgeable, dedicated Consumer Care department, so, should you ever have a problem, you'll receive fast, considerate assistance. My great-grandfather invented the floor sweeper in 1876. Today, BISSELL is a global leader in the design, manufacture, and service of high quality homecare products like your BISSELL deep cleaner.

Tips

Deep cleaning stairs and high-traffic areas on a regular basis helps prolong carpet life.
Check upholstery stuffing before cleaning. Colored stuffing may bleed through the fabric when it becomes wet.
Before turning off the machine, suction up clean water to thoroughly rinse out the interior of the flex hose. Then, lift the cleaning tool and point it upwards to drain any remaining water into the dirty water/ collection tank.

Cleaning fluid
Keep plenty of genuine bissell 2X formula on hand so you can clean and protect whenever it fits your schedule. Always use genuine bissell deep cleaning formulas. Non-bissell cleaning solutions may harm the machine and will void the warranty.

To reduce the risk of fire and electric shock due to internal component damage, use only BISSELL cleaning fluids intended for use with the deep cleaner.

Assembly

Do not plug in your deep cleaner until you are familiar with all instructions and operating procedures.

Tip
Always vacuum thoroughly before you deep clean. If possible, move large furniture to an area you will not be cleaning.

Slide upper body into lower body.
Secure with two screws.
Slide handle assembly down into upper body until it will go no further. Align screw slots.
Secure with screw.
Place solution tank on back of unit.

Operations

Before you clean
Tip
Deep cleaning spots, spills, and high traffic areas on a regular basis can prolong carpet life.

Remove easily moved furniture (chairs, lamps, coffee/cocktail tables, etc.) from room if needed.
Vacuum carpet thoroughly.
Decide where to begin. Plan to leave a path open to empty soiled water and refill cleaner.
NOTE: carpeting will dry in three to four hours, depending on carpet style and air circulation in room. a floor fan speeds drying.

Fill the tank

Remove the solution tank by lifting it straight up, then away from the lower body.
Unscrew the black cap on the solution tank.
Fill to the FORMUlA line with bissell 2X formula. Fill the rest of the tank with hot (140°F/60°C MAX) tap water to the WATeR fill line. Replace and tighten the black cap. *Do not boil or microwave water as it can destroy the bladder.
Place solution tank on lower body.
Rotate Quick Release Cord Wrap™ to release the power cord and plug into an outlet.

Using boost
For an extra cleaning boost, use bissell boost with your cleaning solution.

Fill the clean tank with water and cleaning formula following the instructions in step 3 above.
Add 1 oz. of bissell boost to the solution.
Replace the cap on the tank and replace the tank on the machine.

Pre-treating
Pre-treat stubborn stains and highly soiled carpet in hallways and other high-traffic areas.

Generously spray bissell stain PreTreat evenly over soiled area. DO NOT OVERWET CARPET.
Wait 3-5 minutes before deep cleaning.

Carpet cleaning
Tip
It is recommended that every time your solution tank needs refilling that you empty the contents of the collection tank. If the collection tank gets too full, you may begin to see foam spitting out of the vent cover. If this happens, empty the collection tank.

Turn the unit ON by using your foot to depress the red power switch located on the foot of the machine.
With your foot, press the detent lever located to the right of the power switch.
Depress trigger to spray cleaning solution, while moving machine forward over soiled area Do not overwet.
To suction up water, repeat motion over same area without pressing trigger.
Repeat steps 3 and 4 until no more dirt can be removed.
Continue to clean entire carpet, working in 3' x 4' sections.
empty the collection tank when dirty water reaches the full line, or when the solution tank is empty.
if floor nozzle stops spraying, turn power switch OFF and check water and cleaning solution levels. Refill if needed.

To empty the collection tank

Turn power switch OFF and unplug power cord from outlet.
Remove and empty collection tank.
1. Release collection tank latches [1 each side] by pulling up from bottom of latch and then out.
2. Carefully remove collection tank from lower body by lifting handle.
3. Carry collection tank to a toilet or sink. To empty, pour out contents using opening at back of tank.
4. Rinse collection tank thoroughly.
5. Remove lint and hair from red gasket in base of unit. (Do not remove gasket)

1. Clean nozzle window by lifting latch and removing it from machine. Rinse under running water.
2. When finished, replace nozzle and secure with latch.
  NOTE: for best results, it is recommended that the nozzle is cleaned after each use.
Replace collection tank on lower body and secure with latches.

Hard floor cleaning (included on select models only)

To reduce the risk of fire and electric shock- when cleaning a hard floor, the BISSELL hard floor tool 203-5639 (models 2080 & 2090) must be used and it must only be used with BISSELL 2X Hard Floor Solutions formula cleaning fluid intended for use with this appliance.

Remove the collection tank (refer to steps 2a and b in the "To empty the collection tank" section)
Attach the hard floor tool by hooking it into the front of the removable nozzle and swinging it down until the tabs pop into place.
Replace the collection tank. be sure to attach the two latches.
Fill solution tank with bissell 2X Hard Floor solutions™ to FORMUlA fill line. Fill the rest of the tank with hot (140°F/60°C MAX) tap water to the WATeR fill line. Replace and tighten the black cap.
*Do not boil or microwave water as it can destroy the bladder.
Follow steps 1-8 in "Carpet Cleaning" section.

Maintenance & Care

Machine storage
For best results, a few simple steps can assure your machine is well maintained after your cleaning is complete.

To reduce the risk of electric shock, turn power switch off and disconnect plug from electrical outlet before performing maintenance or troubleshooting checks.

Do not store unit where freezing may occur. Damage to internal components may result.

Flush your machine of any remaining residual solution
1. Fill the water tank with clean hot tap water.
2. Recline the handle and press the spray trigger for 15 seconds while making forward and backward passes on carpet. Release the trigger to suction. Repeat for another 15 seconds. Continue without pressing the trigger until there is no more water being suctioned.
Push the power button to turn the machine off. Unplug the machine and wrap the power cord.
empty the water tank. Rinse out the water tank with hot tap water.
empty the dirty water collection tank. Rinse the tank with hot tap water.
Wipe all surfaces with a soft cloth. store cleaner upright in a protected dry area.

To install the replacement brush belt

Turn the machine off and unplug from wall outlet.
Remove solution and collection tanks.
Lay machine down to access the bottom of the machine.
With a Phillips head screwdriver, unscrew the brush cover and remove.
Remove the brush end cap and remove belt from brush.
Brush can now be removed.
Belt can be removed by sliding off the motor pulley.
Clean or replace belt. Attach belt to motor pulley and brush, insert brush into right side end cap.
Reattach the left end cap and slide brush back into place.
Replace the brush cover and screw into place.

Troubleshooting

To reduce the risk of electric shock, turn power switch off and disconnect plug from electrical outlet before performing maintenance or troubleshooting checks.

When using an electrical appliance, basic precautions should be observed, including the following:

To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury:

Connect to a properly grounded outlet only. See grounding instructions. Do not modify the 3-prong grounded plug.
Do not leave appliance when it is plugged in. Unplug from outlet when not in use and before servicing.
Do not expose to rain, store indoors.
Do not allow to be used as a toy. Close attention is necessary when used by or near children.
Do not use for any purpose other than described in this User's Guide. Use only manufacturer's recommended attachments.
Do not use with damaged cord or plug. If appliance is not working as it should, or has been dropped, damaged, left outdoors, or dropped into water, have it repaired at an authorized service center.

Do not pull or carry by cord, use cord as a handle, close a door on cord, or pull cord around sharp edges or corners. Do not run appliance over cord. Keep cord away from heated surfaces.
Do not unplug by pulling on cord. To unplug, grasp the plug, not the cord.
Do not handle plug or appliance with wet hands.
Do not put any object into openings. Do not use with any opening blocked; keep openings free of dust, lint, hair, and anything that may reduce air flow.
Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers, and all parts of body away from openings and moving parts.
Turn off all controls before plugging or unplugging appliance.
Use extra care when cleaning on stairs.
Do not use to pick up flammable or combustible materials (lighter fluid, gasoline, kerosene, etc.) or use in areas where they may be present.

Do not use appliance in an enclosed space filled with vapors given off by oil base paint, paint thinner, some moth proofing substances, flammable dust, or other explosive or toxic vapors.
Do not use to pick up toxic material (chlorine bleach, ammonia, drain cleaner, etc.).
Do not pick up anything that is burning or smoking, such as cigarettes, matches, or hot ashes.
Use only BISSELL cleaning products intended for use with this appliance to prevent internal component damage. See the Cleaning Fluid section of this guide.
Unplug before connecting TurboBrush Tool.
Do not immerse. Use only on surfaces moistened by the cleaning process.
Keep appliance on a level surface.
Do not carry the appliance while in use.

This model is for household use only. Commercial use of this unit voids the manufacturer's warranty.

Improper connection of the equipment-grounding conductor can result in a risk of electrical shock. Check with a qualified electrician or service person if you aren't sure if the outlet is properly grounded. DO NOT MODIFY THE PLUG. If it will not fit the outlet, have a proper outlet installed by a qualified electrician. This appliance is designed for use on a nominal 120-volt circuit, and has a grounding attachment plug that looks like the plug in the illustration. Make certain that the appliance is connected to an outlet having the same configuration as the plug. No plug adapter should be used with this appliance.
GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS
This appliance must be connected to a grounded wiring system. If it should malfunction or break down, grounding provides a safe path of least resistance for electrical current, reducing the risk of electrical shock. The cord for this appliance has an equipment-grounding conductor and a grounding plug. It must only be plugged into an outlet that is properly installed and grounded in accordance with all local codes and ordinances.
