Removing the Xircom Modem Driver
Follow these instructions to remove the configured Xircom modem driver from your system.
1.
Double click My Computer and locate your CD-ROM drive.
Double click your CD-ROM drive.

Double click through the following path: \Software\Drivers\Xircom\Modem.
Double click the remaining folder, the latest version of the Xircom modem driver.

Double click the 2000 folder and double click xmremove.exe to launch the file.

Click Yes to remove the driver.
7.
Click Yes when prompted to restart your computer.
Follow the instructions to install the Xircom modem driver.

Installing the Xircom Modem Driver
Follow these instructions to install the Xircom modem driver from the A&D CD.
Once you restart your computer, Windows 2000 automatically detects the PCI serial port. When

the Found New Hardware screen appears, insert the A&D CD.
Click Next and click Next again to search for a suitable driver.

Remove the check from the box next to 'CD-ROM drive.'
Place a check in the box next to 'Specify a location' and click Next.

Click the browse button to locate your CD-ROM drive.
Double click through the following path: \Software\Drivers\Xircom\Modem.

Double click the remaining folder, the latest version of the Xircom modem driver.

Double click the 2000 folder, click Open, then click OK.
Click Next to install the driver.

Click Finish to complete the installation.
Restart your computer.

The modem driver is now installed and ready to use.

Playing Audio CDs
Your NEC Versa SXi system supports audio CD play with a CD-ROM drive, CD-Read/Write drive or
DVD-ROM drive installed. The Windows 98 operating system provides a built-in CD player function
that allows you to play CDs and to modify play preferences. In addition, the built-in Multimedia
function allows you to specify the way in which Windows uses your CD device for playing CD music.
Using the Multimedia function in the system's control panel, you can specify that Windows use digital,
rather than analog playback. To access this setting, simply go to Start, Settings, Control Panel,
Multimedia Properties. Select the CD Music tab and place a check in the box next to 'Enable digital
CD audio for this CD-ROM device.'
