Intended use

The Nosiboo Pro nasal aspirator was designed to remove the nasal mucus from the child's nose.
The vacuum and airflow needed for the aspiration is created by an aspirating device designed specifically for this purpose. The Colibri head, which is inserted into the nose, is connected to this device via a tube. The Colibri head has a patented design that prevents the mucus from entering the device.

Intended purpose:

  • to ensure nasal breathing to infants
  • to prevent the complications of childhood common cold and to accelerate the healing process by aspirating the nasal mucus
  • to relieve childhood allergy-like symptoms by removing the nasal mucus.

Patients to be treated:

  • children who are (typically under the age of 6) unable to remove the nasal mucus by blowing their noses.

Illness, condition requiring treatment (indication):

  • to eliminate clogging of the nose
  • treatment of common cold and auxiliary treatment of superinfected paranasal sinuses
  • supplementary treatment of the allergic infectious condition.

Conditions in which the device cannot be used (contraindication):

  • haemophilia
  • if the blood vessels of the nasal septum's mucous membrane widen – in case of frequent nosebleed
  • while taking blood-thinning medicines
  • in case of congenital malformations (e.g. cleft palate).

Suggested user:

  • Age: adult over 18
  • Sex: not applicable (man or woman)
  • Knowledge: should have general knowledge according to their age
  • Education: min. primary school education, no need for special knowledge to use the device.

Attaching the device

  1. Make sure the air mesh behind the connecting unit is in place.
  2. Attach the free end of the tube to the device housing.
  3. Attach one end of the 220 V mains cord to the plug on the lower part of the device housing, then the other end to the socket.

The device is ready for use.

Instructions for use

Before use, the device should be placed in such a way that the plug of the power cord can be easily pulled out from the socket! You can turn the device on or off by pushing and control the intensity of the suction by turning the button on top of the housing. Adjustability guarantees that after selecting the appropriate suction power, the parent cannot cause any secondary deformation in the nose. Before turning on the device, find the right airflow rate fit for your child's age based on Figure 2 (Adjusting the suction power).
Adjusting the suction power

The minimum value of the scale is suitable for newborns, the middle value for babies and the maximum value for small children and for preschoolers. The effectiveness of the device is highly influenced by the thickness of the mucus, the extent of the disease and the unique anatomy of the child. If the mucus is thin, you can use the device at a lower setting, if it is thick, you can use the device at a higher setting than usually.
The device can be operated exclusively by adults. Do not give the device ready for use to the child!
Hold the child in a stable position while using the device. Sit your child onto your lap and hold them or sit them into a straight position supporting their back with a pillow. You may also sit them into a resting chair with a tilted back.

burn hazardburn hazard
Do not lay your child on their back and do not block the free nasal opening!
Make sure that the vents at the back of the device are free!
Hot air may exit the device through the vents!
Unplug the device after it has completely shut off and the cooling phase is over!

Insert the previously disinfected and dried Colibri head into the child's nose, and then turn on the device by pushing the control button (the device operates at the setting used last time).

Correct positioning of the Colibri head
Figure 3 – Correct positioning of the Colibri head
Push the tip of the Colibri head into the nose. The tip should point slightly downwards and outwards towards the eyeball. In this position, you can gently move the Colibri head. With this method you can reach the opening leading to the maxillary sinus and you will not hurt the mucous membrane of the nasal concha or the capillaries of the nasal septum.
The connection of the flexible tube should point downwards while in use.
The patented design of the Colibri head can hold up to 5 ml thin liquid and prevents the mucus from entering the flexible tube.
Dry and very thick mucus can be dissolved by saline solutions. Do not use more than 5 ml of these at a time because if liquid gets into the tube it can damage the device!
After using the solution, wait a few minutes, remove the mucus running out with a tissue. Only after this should the nasal aspirator be used.

Nose-drops and other medicinal products suggested by physicians should be used after the aspiration!
The suggested length of the aspiration is 10 seconds/nasal opening.

If you have to interrupt the aspiration, switch off the device. After the motor completely shuts down, you can restart it. The device switches off after 14 minutes of continuous use but it can be restarted. In case of overuse or if not providing the sufficient ventilation, the thermal switch switches off the device and will prevent re-use for approx. 50 minutes for safety reasons.
The Nosiboo Pro nasal aspirator can be used several times a day. It is recommended to clear the airways before sleeping time and feeding to ensure the peaceful breathing of the child.
Do not cause pain to the child; introduce the device and the method in a tolerant way.
Always switch off the device after use with the control button.
The motor will operate for a while to cool down after you have switched off the device.
Do not unplug the device from the mains until it completely shuts down!
Do not cover the vents on the back of the device while in use!
Unplug the device after it has completely shut off and the cooling phase is over.

Recommended power range:

  • Use the lower values of the range in case of infants and the upper values in case of 4-year-old or older children.
  • The suction power is highly influenced by the thickness of the mucus and the extent of illness.
