CHECKING THE SHOE WEAR

Carefully read p. 24 (REAR DRUM
BRAKE) and p. 35 (MAINTENANCE).
Check the wear of the rear brake shoes af-
ter the first 500 km and successively every
4000 km.
To verify the wear of the rear brake shoes,
proceed as follows:
Pull the rear brake lever (1) completely
and keep it pulled.
Check the position of the rear brake
shoe wear indicator (2).

If the rear brake shoe wear indi-
cator (2) is positioned on or be-
yond the lower reference tooth
(4), contact an aprilia Official Dealer,
who will provide for replacing the rear
brake shoes.

GREASING

THE REAR BRAKE CAM PIN

Carefully read p. 35 (MAINTENANCE).
Remember: 1 mile = 1.6 km
1 km = 0.625 miles
Grease the rear brake cam pin
every 4000 km. If the vehicle is
used on dusty roads, this operation
must be carried out more frequently.

The greasing of the rear brake
cam pin can be difficult or com-
plicated for an unskilled opera-
tor.
If necessary, contact your aprilia Offi-
cial Dealer.
If you want to carry out this operation
by yourself, keep to the following in-
structions:
Disassemble the rear wheel, see p. 44
(REAR WHEEL).
Unscrew and remove the adjuster (5).
Do not dirt the shoes and the
friction material with grease, to
avoid compromising the braking
efficiency of the vehicle.
