If brake pads were allowed to wear
down to the metal substrate, metal-to-
metal contact with the brake disk would
lead to rattling and sparking of the
brake caliper; this would result in loss
of braking and brake disk damage, a
d a n g e r o u s r i d i n g
consequently.
Have the brake pads changed when the
u
lining material of even just one pad is
worn down to nearly 1.5 mm, or when
any one of the wear indicators is no
longer visible.
– Front brake pads (1);
– rear brake pads (2).
Have the coolant changed at an aprilia

Have the front fork oil changed by an
a p r i l i a A u t h o r i z e d D ea l e r , t o b e
a s s u r e d o f a c c u r a t e a n d p r o m p t
service.
Have the front suspension fluid and fork oil
seals checked every 7,500 mi (12,000 km)
or every 2 years.

SUSPENSION
The rear suspension consists of a double
e f f e c t
(compression/rebound damping) fixed to
the engine by means of a silent block.
The shock absorber is provided with a ring
c o n d i t i o n
nut for the adjustment of the spring
preload. The standard adjustment, set by
the manufacturer, is suitable for a rider
weighing about 70 kg. If your weight and
needs are different, adjust the ring nut (1)
with the appropriate wrench provided in the
tool kit, thus setting the ideal traveling
conditions.

Slightly unscrew the locking ring nut (2)

by means of the appropriate wrench.
The adjusting ring nut must not be
screwed in for more than 14 mm. If this
limit is exceeded, even the slightest
unevenness of the ground will make the
vehicle jerk while running.
Turn the adjusting ring nut (1) (shock
u
absorber spring preload adjustment)
(see table).
