N

N
Withdraw the pin (2).
N
Remove the pad pressing spring (3).
CAUTION
Upon reassembly, the pad pressing
spring (3) must be positioned with the
arrow stamped on the upper side indi-
cating the riding direction.
NOTE
The following information refers to
a single braking system, but is valid for
both.
Check the brake pad wear after the first
1000 km (625 mi) and successively every
2000 km (1250 mi). The wear of the brake
pads depends on the use, on the kind of
drive and on the road.
WARNING
Check the wear of the brake pads espe-
cially before every trip.
To carry out a rapid checking of the pad
wear, proceed as follows:
N
Position the vehicle on the centre stand.
N
Carry out a visual check between the
brake disc and the pads, proceeding:

FRONT BRAKE CALIPER

– From below, on the front part, for the left
pad (A);
– from above, on the front part, for the
right pad (B).

REAR BRAKE CALIPER

– From above, on the rear part, for both
pads (C).
WARNING
The excessive wear of the friction mate-
rial would cause the contact of the pad
metal support with the disc, with conse-
quent metallic noise and production of
sparks from the caliper; braking effi-
ciency, safety and soundness of the
disc would thus be negatively affected.
N
If the thickness of the friction material
(even of one pad only) has reduced to
approximately 1 mm, have both pads
changed.
– Front pads (4);
– rear pads (5).
WARNING
Have the pads changed by your
Official Dealer.
