Who is this Guide for?
This guide is aimed at providing support and guidance to homeowners, installers, and dealers for achieving complete automation of Zigbee® and Radio Technology Somfy® (RTS) motors with the TaHoma® switch.

The sections of this guide contain walkthroughs and methods of controlling Zigbee and RTS devices using the TaHoma® switch as the bridge between Amazon Alexa and Smart Shading by Somfy.

How should this Guide be used?
This guide is intended to be used as a reference manual.

OVERVIEW

The Somfy TaHoma® switch provides a single platform for Somfy Zigbee and RTS with a wide range of interior and exterior applications.

  • The TaHoma system supports up to 60 Zigbee motors (max. 50 WireFree), 10 smart plugs, 15 remotes, and 40 channels of RTS
  • Join up to 10 TaHoma switch hubs for multi-zone control (RTS only)
  • The TaHoma system supports a maximum of 40 scenes with schedules per install

Each TaHoma switch is connected to Wi-Fi or directly to the local area network by an optional Ethernet adaptor for IP Integration with third-party control systems. TaHoma is compatible with the Somfy Synergy™ API.

Ysia 1 & 5 Zigbee Remotes
Ensure the remote is powered.
Pressing any button will illuminate the LED(s).
Status LED will blink RED if the battery level is not sufficient for programming.
NOTE: Check the charge of the batteries in the remote

WAKING THE MOTOR:
Ensure the motor has required power available.
Using a small paper clip or similar, BRIEFLY PRESS the Programming Button on the head of the motor
OR
PLUG IN the battery supply/charger.
The motor will jog (briefly move up and down), and the LED will illuminate GREEN for 2 seconds.
The LED will blink AMBER continuously during programming.

SYSTEM PREPARATION

SOMFY SYSTEM

A fully operational TaHoma system is required prior to Alexa programming. The TaHoma system supports up to 60 Zigbee motors (max. 50 WireFree), 10 smart plugs, 15 remotes, and 40 channels of RTS.
RTS devices programmed to an RTS channel will only receive commands from the associated TaHoma switch hub. Hubs must be placed within 25-35' of the devices they control.

  • Confirm with Shade Commissioning Agent that the TaHoma switch firmware is up to date
  • Must have one Amazon account per TaHoma system or project

AMAZON ALEXA SYSTEM

A fully operational Amazon Alexa system is required prior to TaHoma integration.

  • Confirm that Amazon Alexa is powered on and connected to a network with internet
  • Confirm Amazon Alexa IOS/Android application is up to date

SET UP

ENABLE THE TAHOMA SKILL

To enable the TaHoma by Somfy skill in Amazon Alexa, follow the steps below.
From the Amazon Alexa app, ensure the correct account is enabled prior to using the skill.
When creating and naming groups in Alexa, refrain from using the same name as the shades.

  1. DOWNLOAD & INSTALL the Amazon Alexa app
  2. SIGN IN with an Amazon account email address and password
  3. FOLLOW the on-screen instructions
  4. SELECT the 3-lines button
    NOTE: This is on the bottom center of the screen
  5. SELECT "Skills & Games"
  6. ENTER "TaHoma by Somfy" or "Somfy" in the Search field, then SELECT "Search"
  7. SELECT the "TaHoma By Somfy" Skill
  8. SELECT "ENABLE TO USE"

To link TaHoma to Amazon Alexa, follow the steps below.

  1. ENTER the TaHoma account login credentials used to register the TaHoma
  2. SELECT "LOG IN"
  3. SELECT "YES" to authorize Alexa to access the Somfy account
  4. WAIT for the account linking process to complete

DISABLE THE TAHOMA SKILL

To disable the TaHoma by Somfy skill in Amazon Alexa, follow the steps below.

  1. SELECT the 3-lines button
    NOTE: This is on the bottom center of the screen
  2. SELECT "Skills & Games"
  3. ENTER "TaHoma by Somfy" or "Somfy" in the Search field, then SELECT "Search"
    OR
    SELECT "Your Skills"
  4. SELECT the "TaHoma By Somfy" Skill
  5. SELECT "DISABLE SKILL"
    Disabling the TaHoma by Somfy skill will unlink the TaHoma and Alexa accounts. The discovered devices will no longer operate and will need to be deleted in the Alexa app.
  6. SELECT "Disable"
