    The power switch on the back of the P8 must be in the off position. (0 is visible on the switch) Connect the supplied power cord to the power connector of the P8 and to a power outlet. If the supplied power cord does not match your mains socket outlet, please contact your dealer.

  • Page 4 P8 – Manual Preamps P8 is equipped with eight preamplifers. These have a discrete design and are tuned for an open and transparent sound characteristic. Gain The gain control adjusts the preamplifcation. The control range ranges between +8 und +62 dB.

    ADAT outputs (TOSLINK). The digital outputs replace the second analog eight-channel DB25 output of the P8. This allows P8 to be connected directly to the digital ADAT inputs of an audio interface. The converter chip in the optional digital-to-analog converter is the highly acclaimed AKM AK5538 ADC chip, which thanks to its architecture reproduces the finest sound details.

    P8 – Manual Word Clock The word clock connection panel of the optional AD converter contains one clock input and output each as well as a switch for terminating the clock input. The AD converter processes incoming standard word clock signals and generates them outgoing, thus ensuring perfect digital transmission and the highest sound quality.

    Of course, all channels are still output analog at the DB25 output. Service Port The service port (USB) on the optional AD converter of the P8 ensures that the digital interface can be easily maintained. It is used to transfer the operating software (firmware) and is not intended for audio connections.

  • Page 16 P8 – Bedienungsanleitung Vorverstärker P8 ist mit acht Vorverstärkern ausgestattet. Diese sind diskret aufgebaut und auf eine offene und transparente Charakteristik abgestimmt. Mic Gain Über den Gain-Regler wird die Vorverstärkung eingestellt. Der regelbare Vorverstärkungsbereich liegt zwischen +8 und +62 dB.
  • Page 17 P8 kann auch mit einem optionalen Achtkanal-AD-Wandler mit ADAT-Ausgängen (TOSLINK) konfiguriert werden. Die digi- talen Ausgänge ersetzen den zweiten analogen Achtkanal DB25-Ausgang des P8. So kann P8 direkt an die digitalen ADAT-Eingänge von einem Audio-Interface angeschlossen werden. Als Wandler-Chip im optionalen Analog/Digital-Wandler des P8 kommt der erstklassige AKM AK5538 ADC-Chip zum Einsatz.
  • Page 18 P8 – Bedienungsanleitung Word-Clock Das Word-Clock-Anschlussfeld des optionalen AD-Wandlers beinhaltet je einen Clock-Ein- und Ausgang, sowie einen Schalter zur Terminierung des Clock-Eingangs. Der AD-Wandler verarbeitet eingehende Standard-Word- Clock-Signale und generiert sie ausgehend und gewährleistet so perfekte digitale Übertragung und höchste Klangqualität.
  • Page 19 ADAT 2 sendet die Kanäle 3 und 4. Alle Kanäle werden natürlich weiterhin analog am DB25-Ausgang ausgegeben. Service Port Der Service Port (USB) am optionalen AD-Wandler des P8 sorgt dafür, dass die digital Schnittstelle einfach gewartet werden kann. Er dient zum übertragen der Betriebssoftware (Firmware) und ist nicht für Audio-Verbindungen vorgesehen.
