FIT REQUIREMENTS

  • Harness Mode: Use only with children who weigh between 25 and 65 lbs (113 and 30 kg) and whose height is between 34 and 49 in (85 and 125 cm) and are at least 2 years of age.
  • Booster Mode: Use only with children who weigh between 40 and 120 lbs (18 and 54 kg) and whose height is between 44 and 63 in (110 and 160 cm).
  • Snugly adjust the belts provided with this child restraint around your child.

INSTALLATION

  • Secure the top anchorage strap provided with this child seat.
  • Use only the vehicle's lap and shoulder belt system when restraining the child in this booster seat.
  • Secure this child restraint with the vehicle's child restraint anchorage system if available or with a vehicle belt.

GENERAL USAGE

  • Follow all instructions on this child restraint and in the written instructions.
  • Register your child restraint with the manufacturer.
  • Britax recommends that the top tether be used at all times when installing the child seat Using the top tether will improve the stability of your child seat and reduce the risk of injury.
  • Britax strongly recommends that children should remain in a child seat with a 5-point harness until reaching the maximum weight or height allowed.
  • Use this child seat forward-facing only.
  • This child seat must be used in upright position in booster mode.
  • In a vehicle with rear designated seating positions, vehicle owners should be alerted that, according to accident statistics, children are safer when properly restrained in the rear seating positions than in the front seating positions To ensure your child's safety, please study Vehicle Seating Positions and consult your vehicle owner's manual.
  • To prevent injury due to deterioration or hidden damage, discontinue use of this child seat when it is older than nine (9) years or has been in a moderate or severe crash See expiration date on Serial Number and Manufactured Date Label located on the child seat shell.
  • Always make sure the child restraint system is secured to the vehicle, even when unoccupied, since in a crash an unsecured child restraint system may injure occupants. The unoccupied child seat can be secured to the vehicle by attaching the lower connectors to the lower anchors in the vehicle, or by fastening the vehicle seatbelt across the unoccupied child seat
  • The use of non-Britax covers, inserts, toys, accessories, or tightening devices is not approved by Brita. Their use could cause this child seat to fail Federal Motor. Vehicle Safety Standards or not perform as intended in a crash.
  • The primary protection for occupants of a vehicle in a collision is the body of the vehicle itself; a child seat will not protect a child when a vehicle is seriously impacted. However, correctly installed, a child seat will substantially improve chances for survival in most crashes. Make sure all users fully understand the correct ways to use this child seat in a vehicle.
  • Grow With You ClickTight Plus - Prevent the Side Impact Cushions from being punctured. Puncture damage will cause the cushions not to perform as intended in a crash.

Important Notes

  • Before each use, check this child seat and its components to make sure they are in good condition and good working order
  • Do not install with the lower anchors for a child weighing more than 40 lbs (181 kg).
  • Discontinue use of this child seat if it has been in a moderate or severe crash It is not necessary to replace a car seat after a minor crash defined by the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) as:
    1. The vehicle is driveable from the crash site; and
    2. The vehicle door nearest the child seat was not damaged; and
    3. No vehicle occupants were injured; and
    4. There is no visible damage to the child seat; and
    5. The airbags (if present) did not deploy.
  • Verify that the child restraint and child restraint belts or straps do not interfere with the opening and closing of the vehicle door.
  • Consult vehicle user guide to ensure child restraint installation does not interfere with function of vehicle seats.
  • Snugly adjust the belts provided with the child restraint around your child. A snug strap should not allow any slack You should not be able to pinch excess.
  • Ensure the lower harness (waist) straps are firmly adjusted in a position so that the child's pelvic area is secure.
  • Ensure the upper harness (shoulder) straps are firmly adjusted so that the child is secure.
  • Never leave child unattended.
  • Ensure to remove bulky coats, jackets, and/or bulky sports equipment before putting the child in the child restraint
  • Cover the child seat when the vehicle is parked in direct sunlight. Metal parts of child seat could become hot enough to burn a child.
  • Store the child seat in a safe place when it is not being used. Avoid placing heavy objects on top of it.
  • Do not, except as described in this booklet, attempt to disassemble any part of the child seat or change the way the harness or vehicle's seat belts are used.
  • Never use the harness or adjuster strap to lift or carry this child seat. Doing so could damage the harness adjuster and webbing Always carry this child seat by the shell or tether straps.
  • Third party recommendations are subject to change, so we recommend you visit their websites for the most up to date recommendations.

Child Seat Functions

Adjusting Harness and Head Restraint Height

Make all adjustments for the fit of your child before using the child seat. Place the child seat on the floor and have your child sit in the seat. Follow the instructions on the following pages to make the proper adjustments to the harness, buckle, and head restraint.

  1. Loosen the harness (if necessary).
    1. Press the release lever.
    2. Pull both harness straps forward.
Adjusting Harness and Head Restraint Height - Step 1
  2. Lift and slide the harness height adjuster into the desired position.
Adjusting Harness and Head Restraint Height - Step 2
warning NOTE: Ensure the head restraint has locked into position.

In Harness Mode, the harness height adjuster also adjusts the height for the head restraint. Always adjust the harness straps to the closest position at or above your child's shoulders.
Adjusting Harness and Head Restraint Height - Step 3

In Booster Mode, adjust the head restraint so that the vehicle shoulder belt lays straight across the center of the child's chest and above the child's shoulder. The vehicle shoulder belt should be routed through the red shoulder belt guide without contacting the child's neck.

In some cases, the vehicle head restraint can prevent the child seat head restraint from being raised high enough to properly adjust the harness for the fit of your child. DO NOT force the child seat head restraint past the vehicle head restraint. Doing so could cause the child seat not to perform as intended. If the location of the vehicle head restraint interferes with the child seat head restraint, raise or remove the vehicle head restraint. If the vehicle head restraint cannot be removed, move the child seat to the upright position or try a different seating location.

Overhang

Harness Mode

It is important that the base of the child seat rests completely flat on the vehicle seat with no side overhang. It is permissible to allow up to 3 in. (7. 6 cm) of the base to hang over the front edge of the vehicle seat. If the vehicle seat does not allow enough of the child seat base to make contact, adjust the recline angle to a more upright position. Not doing so could cause the child seat to not perform as intended.

Booster Mode

Overhang is not allowed in booster mode In booster mode, the base of the child seat must fit completely on the vehicle seat.

Using the Impact Absorbing Tether

Attach the tether only to tether anchors identified by your vehicle manufacturer as tether anchorage points.
If your vehicle does not currently have a tether anchor attachment, refer to your vehicle owner's manual or contact your vehicle man u fac tur er for assistance. DO NOT modify your vehicle without advice from your vehicle manufacturer.

HARNESS MODE: Britax recommends that the top tether be used at all times when installing the child seat. Using the top tether will improve the stability of your child seat and reduce the risk of injury.

BOOSTER MODE: Do not use top tether without securing lower connectors.

Tether anchor locations vary from vehicle to vehicle. Check your vehicle owner's manual and look for the tether anchor symbol shown in the diagram to help identify where the top tether anchor point is located in your vehicle.
Using the Impact Absorbing Tether - Step 1

To attach the tether to a tether anchor:

  1. Remove the webbing from the elastic strap and loosen the tether.
Using the Impact Absorbing Tether - Step 2
  2. Firmly press the hook over the a tether anchor point.
Using the Impact Absorbing Tether - Step 3

Use the elastic strap to contain extra webbing. Always ensure any excess webbing is contained within your vehicle.

The Tether as a Crash Indicator

The tether can indicate when the child seat has been in a moderate or severe crash and replacement of the child seat is necessary.

Discontinue use of child seat if it has been involved in a moderate or severe crash, regardless of whether the loops have pulled through the back side of the shell and the colored stitching has been ripped.

Figure 1 shows an example of a tether acceptable for continued use (provided the child seat has not been involved in a crash). The colored stitching will not be visible and will be intact.
The Tether as a Crash Indicator - Step 1

Figure 2 shows an example of when the child seat is unacceptable for continued use. If one or both of the loops have pulled through the back side of the shell and/or any of the colored stitching is visible and has ripped, the child seat is no longer acceptable for use.
