Introduction Read and understand this information booklet before using this product. It is recommended that you store this booklet so you can consult it often to ensure that you are using the restraint correctly. This child restraint is designed for use only by children who weigh between 5 and 40 pounds (2.3 and 18 kg) and whose height is between 19 and 40 inches (48 and 102 cm).
• Verify that the child restraint is secure and that the harness is properly adjusted around your child each time you use the child restraint. • Adjust the harness to fit the clothes your child is wearing. The fit for a child in winter clothes will differ from a child in summer clothes.

Vehicle Safety Belts NOTE: The information in this section only applies if you are installing the child restraint using the vehicle seat belts. If using LATCH, this section should be ignored. IMPORTANT: Some vehicles have no seating positions which are compatible with this child restraint, or any other child restraint.

Lower Ancorage Point Use this simple guide to check your seat belts and determine the safest position for your child restraint. Use the gray shaded area on the side of this page to determine the best position for the child restraint. Hold the page against your vehi- cle seat (as shown above) with the gray area toward the back of the seat.
CANNOT be used. • Britax and the U.S. Department of Transportation warn that chil- dren 12 and under must ride in the rear seats, away from front air bags. The only exception is if the air bag is off.

Installation In Aircraft This child restraint is certified for use on aircraft. Most airlines in the U.S. and Canada will allow you to use a child restraint if it is labeled as an approved child restraint for airline use and fits prop- erly on the plane.

Versa-Tether Hook the tether to the tether anchor point, then pull on the tether belt to remove any slack. Verify that there is tension in the tether strap and that child restraint is properly secured. Releasing the Versa-Tether To release the Versa-Tether, push the adjuster button down and inwards on the tether strap, and pull to loosen.

Rear Facing Versa-Tether Locate the tether and remove from pouch. Push the adjuster button, then pull to fully extend tether. Locate the hook on the strap. The hook latch can be opened and closed by pressing your thumb against the latch. Place the restraint in the selected vehicle seating position.

Versa-Tether Verify that there is tension in the tether strap and that child restraint is properly secured. IMPORTANT: The proper child restraint angle is the angle where your child rests comfortably back, but never more than 45 degrees from vertical. Releasing the Versa-Tether To release the Versa-Tether, push the adjuster button down and inwards on the tether strap, and pull to loosen.
Recline Adjustment Pull blue recline latch up to adjust seat into one of four normal posi- tions (fig A). If the level line is not horizontal with the ground in normal recline mode, it may be necessary to install the child restraint in super recline mode to obtain the proper seat angle.
Using the Buckle Fastening the Buckle Hold the buckle with one hand. Use your other hand to insert one tongue at a time into the buckle. Proper connection is confirmed with a positive click after inserting the second buckle tongue. Releasing the Buckle Brace the rear of the buckle with hand.
Once the child restraint has been installed in the vehicle, follow these instructions to secure your child in the child restraint. Loosen the harness by lifting the adjuster lever located in front of the seat, while pulling the shoulder straps forward (fig. A). Unfasten the chest clip by squeez- ing the middle tab.

The shoulder harness MUST be threaded through the slots in the cover and shell nearest the top of your child’s shoulders. If in any doubt always use the slot above the shoulders rather than below. To Check Harness Height: Place child in child restraint and secure harness (see pages 31-32). Observe where the shoulder harness is positioned on your child.
