3.0 Quick Start Guide
This chapter gives a basic overview and steps on how to set up the WriteProtect.
PCIe is not hot-swappable. Always turn the WriteProtect-PORTABLE off when
connecting or disconnecting drives through the PCIe port.
Connect only one drive to the WriteProtect-PORTABLE ports. The WriteProtect-
PORTABLE only works with one drive connected at any time.
1. Make sure the WriteProtect-PORTABLE is turned OFF.
2. Connect one drive to the WriteProtect-PORTABLE's USB, PCIe, or SATA port.
3. Connect the USB 3.0 A Male to A Male cable to one of the WriteProtect-PORTABLE's
host port and the other end of the cable to a computer.
Logicube has qualified and included a 3-foot USB 3.0 A Male to A Male
cable.
4. Connect the AC adapter/power supply to a power source and the WriteProtect-
PORTABLE.
5. Press and release the power button located on the top side of the WriteProtect-
PORTABLE. The Power LED will start blinking as the device turns on. The boot sequence
may take about 30 seconds and when finished, the Power LED will stop blinking and turn
solid (lit up).
To disconnect or change drives, turn the WriteProtect-PORTABLE OFF by
pressing and releasing the power button. Wait for the Power LED to turn
OFF. Once the WriteProtect-PORTABLE is turned off, it is safe to
disconnect or change drives. The computer does not need to be turned off
or restarted.
3.1 Connected Drives
Depending on the Operating System on the computer, drives connected to the WriteProtect
may or may not be automatically mounted. Windows should automatically assign a drive letter
to partitions that it can recognize.
Disk Management will show the drives as "Read Only":
