R-60 Calibration Procedure
Required tools:
R-60 input extender ribbon
•
Portable Audio Precision or equivalent balanced test set
•
#4 phillips screwdriver
•
greenie trimmer
•
Test cables:
•
◦ Qty 1 - IN-60 input cable (3,2,1 = hi,lo, sh LEFT, and 6,5,4 = hi, lo, sh RIGHT)
◦ Qty 1 - OM-60 breakout cable w/PGM, AUD master & insert i/o. See manual for
complete pinout information.
Note that the OM-60 insert points are actually unbalanced, while the master outputs are
balanced. The wiring for ALL outputs, whether balanced or unbalanced, follows the HI LO SH
wiring convention. The LO and SH connections are at GND on the unbalanced I/O. It is best
to make and test all cables BEFORE beginning calibration.

Portable AP settings:
Generator = +4dBu balanced, freq. = 1kHz, source Z = 40 ohm
Analyzer input Z = 100k ohm

Preparation:
Power down when removing or inserting modules and connecting or
•
disconnecting the ribbon extender if possible to avoid unnecessary complications.
In order to have access to the gain trimmers on the OM-60 module you need to pull at
•
least two modules out to the left of the OM-60. This is necessary because there is no
OM-60 extender ribbon.
Also make sure that the insert bypass dipswitches (SW1 positions 1,2,3 and 4) on the
•
OM-60 are in the ON position
Pull out the IN-60 input to be calibrated and place it on the extender cable. Be sure to
•
orient the extender cable correctly to avoid damaging the module and/or the console.
**************************************************
Connections:
Generator: Connect the AP generator to the IN-60 input.
•
Analyzer: Connect the AP analyzer to the PGM LEFT Insert Out (PGM Insert pins 3,2,1
•
= hi,lo,sh Left, 6,5,4 = hi,lo,sh Right on connector CT33).
Note: PGM Master output pins are the same as the PGM insert output. AUD out is NOT)
***************************************************
Calibration:
Turn on the AP analog Generator, making sure it is set as described above.
•
Push the IN-60 fader up full, turn the IN-60 ON, and assign the IN-60 to the PGM bus.
•
Adjust the IN-60's LT trimpot for +10dBu (unbalanced PGM LT INSERT Out).
•
Connect the AP Analyzer to the PGM master LT output.
