I-Cool - Supplemental Cooling
IR Impact C-Series compressors may be equipped with the optional I-COOL system that
provides an optimized cooling method for low and medium temperature, but is only applicable
for compressor models IR2C0173 - IR4C1145. The position of the suction strainer may be
changed as shown in the figures below. High and medium temperature range uses suction gas
cooling, while low temperature range uses direct suction cooling with an external fan.
SL(A) – Standard Position - In this position suction gas will be routed across the motor,
allowing the suction gas to cool the motor.
SL(B) – The Suction Strainer must be rotated to the SL(B) Position. In this position the suction
gas is routed directly to the compressor cylinders, not across the motor.
I-Cool System – Position of Suction Strainer Set Either for Motor Cooling (Medium Temp)
or for Direct Suction to Cylinders (Low Temp R-22)
Do not use unloaders with I-Cool compressors if the suction strainer is in the SL(B) position.
Unloaders may be used with I-Cool compressors if the suction strainer is in the SL(A) position.
