Example: Transfer the contents of
memory channel 15 to the
VFO.
1) Select memory channel 15.
2) Push and hold WRITE SWITCH.
"М" disappears

Ш FREQUENCY SCANNING
1) Select VFO mode.
2) Push and hold UP SWITCH or DN
SWITCH to start scan.
4) Push and hold the WRITE SWITCH for about 1/2 second.
e The 3 short tones indicate that the information selected in step
3) is now stored in the memory channel. Do not release the
WRITE SWITCH until the 3 tones are heard.
ePush the MR side of the VFO/MR SWITCH to confirm the
memory channel has the correct information stored.
At times it may be desirable to transfer the contents of a memory
channel to the VFO. Perform the following steps.
1) Select the memory channel containing the information to be
transferred.
. e Refer to the MEMORY READING section for information on
selecting memory channels.
2) Push and hold the WRITE SWITCH for about 1/2 second.
e The 3 short tones indicate that the information contained in the
memory channel has been transferred to the VFO. Do not
release the WRITE SWITCH until the 3 tones are heard.
e After the transfer is completed, the IC-28A/E changes to the
VFO mode and the MEMORY mode "М" disappears from the
display.
e This transfer function does not affect the contents of the me-
mory channel. |
Both frequency and memory scanning on the IC-28A/E are соп-
trolled from the microphone. Before attempting to use either scan
function, set the SOL/CHK CONTROL as below:
eSOL/CHK CONTROL: Speaker noise quieted
e T/R INDICATOR : OFF
When using the frequency scan, the entire frequency range is auto-
matically searched by the IC-28A/E using the programmed size of
frequency steps (SECTION 5 - 1 SELECTING A FREQUENCY).
The receiver only stops on frequencies where a signal is present.
1) Push the VFO side of the VFO/MR SWITCH.
