Schwinn 490 Elliptical: Incline Calibration Procedure
Overview:
This procedure is used to calibrate the incline motor of your elliptical. This is most commonly used
when replacing the incline motor.

Incline Motor Calibration
Tools Required:
Phillips head
screwdriver
1.
Plug the power cord back into your machine and the electrical outlet, then flip the
power switch to On.
2.
While your elliptical is powering up, press and hold the Programs button for three
seconds to enter Console Setup Mode/System Menu.
3.
Press the Programs button four times to advance through the System Menu.
4.
The console should now display the hardware variant and console firmware version -
the values on your console may vary.
5.
Press and hold the Resistance Level Quick 25 button for three seconds to enter the
Manufacturing Test Menu.
6.
The console will display START TEST SUITE.
7.
Press the Resistance Down button three times to advance to the CAL_INCLINE
option.
If Start was pressed instead of Resistance Down, turn the power switch off
and start over on Step 1.
If Resistance Down is pressed too many times, we can use the Resistance
Increase button to go back to the CAL_INCLINE option.
8.
When the console displays CAL_INCLINE, press the Start button to begin the
calibration.
