For
trimming
hedges,
shape (as in figure 1) is recommended;
that is, with base wider than the top.

This format will expose the hedge's surface to
the sun, which will result in uniform growth.
As a measure of reference, apply an incline of
approximately 10 cm to a 1 m hedge (as in figure
1).
Cutting Sequence
When performing the trim, incline the blade 15°
to 30° for a greater efficiency of cut.
First cut both sides, from bottom to top,
adjusting handle position. This method of
cutting prevents pieces from falling into the
cutting area. Next, trim the top; to do so, adjust
the handle position as indicated on page 10.
A dangerous reaction can occur when the blade
comes in contact with a solid object while trimming.
This is called kickback. As a result, the operator may
lose control of the Hedge Trimmer and may lose
balance if standing on a ladder, which can result
in serious or fatal injury. To avoid kickback, strictly
observe the safety precautions below.
1. Keep the cutting blades far from fences, posts, wires
and rock, so as to avoid kickback and blade damage.
2. When operating the trimmer, always use both
hands to secure the handle.

3. When operating the trimmer, keep your elbows
close to the handle, avoid reaching outwards to
trim, in this way maintaining better balance and
support.
4. When operating the trimmer, be aware of how
close your limbs are to the cutting blade and never
perform trimming in a place with no visibility.
For very long branches and hedges, cutting must
be performed in steps so as not to overload the
engine; furthermore, the cut material undergoes
decomposition (composting) more quickly.
