To reprogram the Schlage Encode BE489 lock after moving it from a left-side deadbolt installation to a right-side installation, you need to perform a factory default reset. Follow these steps:
1. Remove the battery cover on the back of the lock. 2. Locate the label inside the lock, which contains the default programming code and user codes. 3. Perform a factory reset by following the reset instructions in the manual. 4. After the reset, the lock will return to its factory settings, including default codes. 5. Use the default programming code to set up new user codes and adjust settings as needed.
This ensures the lock is correctly calibrated for the new installation direction.

The lock no longer is working. I have changed the batteries 2 times and it still does not work. It is like it is not getting power. The model is BE489WB. I pressed the button inside the back casing, but it does not reset. What do I do?

If the door is thinner than 1C\,” or thicker than 1C\v”, then the lock will not fit properly on the door. Prepare door edge hole. A thick door kit is used to fit the Schlage Encode to doors 4a Measure and mark Z\x door thickness. that are between 1M\,” and 2Z\v” thick.
