My lock is not working; the x is blinking red. I think I held the back button too long when I was trying to pair my phone with the lock because it said it couldn’t find device. Now, I can’t use code on lock or move lock with phone. Please tell me what I can do to get it working again.

A blinking red light on the Schlage BE489WB lock may indicate a failed Factory Default Reset (FDR). To fix this, perform an FDR by following these steps:

1. Remove the battery cover.
2. Press and hold the black circle reset button to the right of the thumbturn on the inside of the lock for 7 seconds, then release.
3. If successful, all keypad lights will illuminate for 3 seconds.
4. The blue checkmark will stay on for an additional 2 seconds and the lock will beep.

If the red "X" remains lit and the lock beeps, the reset has failed. Try the process again. If the issue persists, consider replacing the batteries with new alkaline AA batteries or contacting Schlage customer support.

If the Schlage BE489WB lock is unable to connect to the app despite changing the batteries and resetting the lock, it may be due to the lock not having accepted required firmware upgrades. The app must be used to connect the lock, and any firmware updates should be accepted when prompted. Additionally, the lock works only with iOS 9.3 or later or Android 5.0 or later, so an incompatible device may also prevent connection.

Lock will not connect to the wifi

The Schlage BE489WB lock may not connect to WiFi due to several reasons:

1. It only supports 2.4GHz WiFi, not 5GHz. If your router is set to 5GHz only, the lock won't connect.
2. The WiFi signal range is short and weak. Even if the router is nearby, being on a different level or with obstacles can cause connection problems.
3. Some users report general reliability issues with the WiFi connectivity, where the lock loses connection or fails to stay connected.

These issues can prevent the lock from establishing or maintaining a stable WiFi connection.

why doesn't it connect after changing the batteries

The Schlage BE489WB may not connect after changing the batteries if the batteries were not installed correctly, such as not facing the door, or if the battery holder and cover were not reinstalled properly. Additionally, once the lock is connected to the app, manual programming is disabled and access codes are deleted, so reconnection may require using the app.

No, once the Schlage BE489WB lock is connected to the app, manual programming functions are disabled. Therefore, auto-lock settings would need to be configured through the app.

If multiple factory resets on the Schlage BE489WB have failed, ensure you can locate the default codes before attempting another reset, as customer service cannot retrieve lost default codes. If issues persist, customer service support may be required.

Yes, parts for the Schlage BE489WB system can be obtained, but some components may be marked "not labeled for retail sale," which suggests they are not intended to be sold individually.

At the conclusion of the lock/unlock cycle, the ‘unlock button’ flashes and timed with noise. What is this telling me?

When the 'unlock button' on the Schlage BE489WB flashes a red "X" and the lock beeps at the end of the lock/unlock cycle, it means the Factory Default Reset (FDR) has failed.
