INSTALLATION

3.1
OVERVIEW: Confined space systems must be installed as described in their manufacturer instructions. All system
requirements must be met as described. Effective planning and awareness of your worksite and your equipment are of
great help in making this process move as smoothly as possible.
3.2
PLANNING: Plan your Fall Protection system before starting your work. Account for all factors that may affect your safety
before, during, and after a fall. Consider all requirements and limitations specified in these instructions.
A. SHARP EDGES: Avoid working where system components may be in contact with, or scrape against, unprotected
sharp edges and abrasive surfaces. All sharp edges and abrasive surfaces should be covered with protective material.
B. NUMBER OF USERS: The number of users that may secure to this product is limited by the weight of those users
and the maximum static load that can be expected with their use of the product. The maximum static load expected
through use of this product must always be equal to or less than its maximum static strength. See Section 4 for more
information about user capacity.
;
The number of users may also be limited by product design.
C. COMPATIBILITY: When installing your system, it is important that you use compatible components. Each product
model is compatible for use with a specific set of product models or designs.

3.3
ASSEMBLING THE SYSTEM: Depending on how the product is received and ordered, the user may have to join the arm
and leg assemblies together prior to installation. See Figure 5 for reference. To join the two assemblies, secure the leg
assembly to the arm assembly using the provided hardware. Torque the fasteners to 45 ft-lb. (61 N-m).
3.3
INSTALLING THE POLE HOIST SYSTEM: See Figure 6 for reference. To install the pole hoist system:
;
This product must be used in conjunction with a winch or Self-Retracting Device (SRD). The user should always
consult the manufacturer instructions for their winch or SRD before installing or using this product.
;
Always position the system in a location that allows the operator to use the system and any secured devices safely.
1.
Secure the leg assembly. Unfold the leg assembly outwards from the arm assembly. Secure the Foot (A) with the
Foot Pin (B). Secure the leg assembly at the appropriate angle with the Leg Bracket Pin (C).
2.
Secure the system to the anchorage connection point. Secure a carabiner or similar connector between the
Hanger Bracket (D) and the anchorage connection point.
3.
Adjust the arm assembly. Adjust the length of the arm as necessary. Secure at the desired length using the Arm
Adjustment Pin (E).
4.
Adjust the leg assembly. After securing and adjusting the arm assembly, it may be necessary to adjust the leg
assembly. Adjust the height of the leg assembly and secure using the Leg Adjustment Pin (F). Adjust the angle of the
leg assembly using the Leg Bracket Pin (C).
5.
Secure the winch or SRD onto the arm assembly. Place the winch or SRD bracket onto the Mounting Bracket
(G). Secure the winch or SRD to the mounting bracket using the Locking Pin (H) provided with the winch or SRD.
6.
Route the winch or SRD lifeline through the system. Guide the lifeline through the Head Assembly (I), rotating
the head assembly so that the slots in the assembly are aligned to guide the lifeline through. The lifeline should route
around the Guide Pulley (J) and cross in front of the Retainer Spring (K).
7.
Secure the lifeline atop the system. Remove the Roller Pin (L) and Guide Roller (M). Insert the lifeline into the
gap. Reinsert the guide roller so that the lifeline passes beneath it and replace the roller pin to secure.
The maximum arresting force for connecting subsystems must meet the requirements
listed in Section 4.
Use must not exceed the lifting capacity of the winch.
