Section 4 - ADJUSTMENTS & REPAIR
CAUTION
Wear heavy leather gloves when handling or
working
around
cutting
blades.
Blades
are
extremely sharp and can cause severe injury._
4.5.2. BLADE SHARPENING
1. Remove blade. See Figure 4.6.
4. Check blade balance after sharpening.
If necessary, correct blade balance by
grinding the heavy end of blade.

5. Reinstall blade.
Refer to Figure 4.5.
Torque
blade
mounting
bolts
to
recommended range of 70 to 80 ft. lbs.
4.5 MOWER DRIVE BELT REPLACEMENT
Inspect mower drive belt. Replace belt if it shows
signs of excessive wear, damage and/or is broken.
CAUTION
Before attempting any adjustments or repairs, STOP
the engine, remove the key, remove the spark plug
wire(s) from the spark plug(s) and secure wire(s)
away from plug(s).
4.5.1. BELT REMOVAL
1. Remove mower drive belt cover.
2. Remove old belt.
4.6.2. BELT REPLACEMENT
1. Route belt around blade pulleys and idler
pulley in same the position as old belt was
removed. It may be necessary to use a pry
bar to pull idler pulley back to install belt.
See Figure 4.7.
2. Reinstall belt cover.
2. Inspect condition of blade. Refer to Figure
4.5.
CAUTION

4.5.2. BLADE SHARPENING (Continued)
3. If blade is in good condition, sharpen at
25 degrees. DO NOT sharpen beyond
existing cutting edge. See Figure 4.7.
CAUTION
Never attempt to charge battery while installed on
the Zero Turning Radius Mower.
Never use
"BOOST" chargers on the battery.
