Play the program sources to be recorded and to be

VIDEO TAPE EDITING
You can edit from video recorder 2 (connected to VIDEO
2 jacks) to video recorder 1 (connected
to VIDEO
1
jacks). Editing from video recorder 1 to video recorder 2
is not possible.

Diagram fei shows the connection for video editing from
hi-fi video recorder to hi-fi video recorder. Diagram
shows the connection for video editing from monaural
video recorder to monaural video recorder.
When
monaural
video
recorder
is connected
with
RK-C71
connecting
cord,
the
stereo
effect
may
be
degraded. To listen to the audio sound, disconnect the L
channel of the RK-C71 from the AUDIO OUT L jack of the
amplifier.

Depress the POWER
switches of the amplifier and
video recorder to ON.

Press the VIDEO 1 (¥'P£°) button.

VIDEO 2 > VIDEO 1/TAPE 1, 2.

Start
playback
of video
recorder
2 and
set video
recorder
1 into recording
mode.
For a hi-fi video
recorder, make sure that the input selector of the
video recorder is set to the correct position. Editing
will begin.
During video tape editing, you can listen to the program
source seiected with FUNCTION
button.
SUBSTITUTING SOUND OF THE VIDEO TAPE
During video editing, you can substitute sound from a
tape deck or music
from a turntable system
for the
sound
already
recorded.
With
this
feature,
you
can
make your own personalized video tape.

Depress the POWER
switches of the amplifier and
connected source equipment to ON.

Press the VIDEO 1 (J'PE°) button.

Set the AUDIO
REC
OUT
SELECTOR
switch
to
PHONO, TUNER, CD or TAPE 2 ~ TAPE 1/VIDEO 1.

Start playback of video recorder 2 and recording of
video recorder 1 and play the audio program source
to be added. Editing will begin and program source
sound will be added to the video tape.

TROUBLE CHECKS
Should any problem persist after you have made these
checks, consult your nearest Sony service facility.
Before going through the check
list below, first refer
back to the connection and operating procedures.
No audio
eCheck speaker and program source connections.
eCheck the settings of the FUNCTION
buttons.
e@Turn up the volume.
No audio from one channel or unbalanced left and right
volume
e Adjust the BALANCE control.
eCheck
the speaker and
input connections
of the in-
operative channel.
Abrupt loss of sound from one or both of the speakers
and the power/standby indicator blinking in red*
e Turn off the amplifier and check the speaker terminals
or speaker cord for a short.
Lack of bass sound or obscure instrument position
eCheck the speaker connection for proper phasing.
eCheck the CARTRIDGE
LOAD selector setting.
No tape recording
eCheck that the AUDIO REC OUT SELECTOR switch is
correctly set.
No video picture
e@ Check the video connections.
eCheck
the
function
switch
setting
of
the
video
recorder.
eCheck that the component TV is turned on.
eCheck
that
the
VIDEO
button
of the
amplifier
is
depressed.
No video sound
eCheck the video sound connections.
eCheck the input selector of the video recorder.
eCheck the VIDEO 1 or 2 button setting of the amplifier.
eWhen a TV tuner is used, check that its volume is set
to maximum.
Severe hum or noise
e@ Keep the connecting cords away from transformers or
motors, TV sets and fluorescent lights.
When the TV set and audio components are too close
together and used at the same time, separate them.
e Ground the turntable system.
e Disconnect the ground wire of the turntable from the
wr terminal
when
using a special designed
MM
car-
tridge.
e@ Make secure connections.
e@ Wipe the plugs and jacks with a cloth lightly dampen-
ed with methanol.
* This symptom may be caused when the protection circuits activate.
