Before inspecting the pressure relief valve, release air pressure, lockout and
tagout the power supply to the compressor package. Failure to release
pressure or properly disconnect the power may result in personal injury or
death.
Never paint, lubricate or alter a relief valve. Do not plug vent or restrict.
Operation of the unit with improper relief valve setting can result in severe
personal injury or machine damage. Ensure properly set valves are installed
and maintained.
Pressure Relief Valve Check During Operation – The pressure relief valve has no user-serviceable or
repairable components. However, it should be tested for proper operation at least once every year. To
test the pressure relief valve:
Raise the system operating pressure to its normal level.
Manually open the valve by lifting the hand lever.
Hold the valve open for a few seconds and allow it to snap shut.
When checking pressure relief valve there is an explosive release of pressure.
Use appropriate safety equipment, hearing and eye protection, and safety
precautions when performing this PRV check on an operating machine. Failure
to perform this operation in a safe manner or with out safety equipment may
result in personal injury or death.
