Use / meaning
When these symbols

Press briefly: displays the temperature during the heating up phase
Press and hold: calls up the Basic settings menu (see section: Changing the Basic
settings)
sets the temperature
Changes the settings in the Basic settings menu (see section: Changing the Basic
settings)
Sets the required steam intensity: low, medium or high
(see section: VarioSteam - steam-assisted cooking)
Descales the appliance
Starts operation
Short press: stops operation (pause)

Application
For baking and roasting on one or more levels
For baking and roasting on one level. Ideal for cakes with moist toppings (e.g. cheese-
cake)
For pre-prepared frozen products and dishes which require a lot of heat from under-
neath (see section: Baking)
For poultry and larger pieces of meat
For large amounts of flat, small items for grilling (e.g. steaks, sausages)
For small amounts of flat, small items for grilling (e.g. steaks, bread)
For food and baked items on which you want a crust to form, or which need more
browning on the underside. Only activate Bottom heat for a short while at the end of
the baking time.
For tender pieces of meat that are to be cooked medium/medium rare or à point
