The IBM 5250 Express adapters let you access an IBM System/36,
System/38, or Application System/400 host that supports twinaxial
protocol from a PC that is designed to one of the following
architecture standards:
PCAT
ISA
EISA
PCI
PCM CIA
In addition to this manual, the option package contains:
An IBM 5250 Express adapter
IBM 5250 Express Adapter Support Diskettes
Safety Information booklet
Software Program License Agreement
IBM 5250 Family Specification Sheet
Depending on the option that you purchased, your package might also
contain a cable and an emulation software kit.
This section provides an overview of the option installation
instructions. For detailed instructions, see Part 2.

Part 1. Quick Installation Guide
Although the installation and configuration procedures are different
based on the IBM 5250 Express adapter and PC you are using, the
process of installing and configuring the adapter is similar for all the
IBM 5250 Express adapters:
1. Tum off your PC and any attached devices.
2. Install the adapter in the PC using the directions provided with
your PC.
3. Insert a backup copy of Support Diskette #2 in your A: drive .
4. Tum on your PC and devices.
5. Run the test configuration program to prepare the adapter for
testing.
6. Run the offline tests to check the installation of the adapter.
Follow the directions that appear on the screen.
7. After the testing is completed, remove the support diskette from
the A: drive and reboot your PC.
8. Run the installation program to install any support files that are
required for your configuration.
9. Contact the host system administrator, and then connect the PC to
the host.
