Operating the MCs
Virtual Terminal
When the Virtual Tenninal parameter is set to On, the MCs c<m run two emulations
(selected when in setup) to enable seamless interaction between applications that are
written for typical terminal command sets. The subsections include information about
each type of emulation.
Emulations
ANSI Emulations
The default emulation, VT220-7, operates according to the American National
St<mdards Institute (ANSI) command functions. It is compatible with applications
written for many ANSI tenninals, including Digital Equipment Corporntion's VT220.
Other ANSI emulations supported by the MCs, and the tenninals they represent,
include:
• VT220 8-bit (DEC VT220 in 8-bit mode)
• VTlOO (DEC VTlOO)
• VT52 (DEC VT52)
• PC Term
The VT52 emulation sJ:iould be used with applications written for the DEC VT52
tenninal. The PC Tenn emulation should be used with applications written for IBM
PC-compatible tenninals.
