UL GATE CLASSIFICATIONS CLASS I - Residential Vehicular Gate Operator -A vehicular gate operator (or system) intended for use in garages or par1<ing areas associated with a residence of one-to four single families. CLASS II • Commercial I General Access Vehicular Gate Operator• A vehicular gate operator (or system) intended for use in a commercial location or building such as a multi-family housing unit (five or more single units), hotels, garages, retail stores, or other buildings accessible by or servicing the general public. - Page 6 ENTRAPMENT & SAFETY PROTECTION ALL ENTRAPMENT AREAS NEED TO BE PROTECTED BY A &WARNING MONITORED ENTRAPMENT PROTECTION DEVICE. • Every slide gate operator requires a minimum of 2 entrapment protection devices in both directions. One each direction is covered by the enherent ERO system (Type Al. Therefore, at least one additional photo eye, edge sensor or equivafent is required to be added, by the installer, in each direction.
- Page 7 ENTRAPMENT PROTECTION AREA �WARNING MAKE SURE ALL ENTRAPMENT ZONES ARE PROTECTED BY APPROVED ENTRAPMENT PROTECTION DEVICES. ENTRAPMENT ZONE: Locations between a moving gate and a counter opposing edge or surface where entrapment is possible up to 6ft. above grade. Such locations occur if during any point in travel the gap between a moving gate and fixed counter opposing edges or surfaces are less than 16 inches.
